That's a bit of an understatement.

Well, I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt. That said, he did seem like a bit of a hot head or maybe he was just in a bad mood that night. Not sure.

I had master strokes which was a best of compilation on vinyl. I lent it to my dad and never saw it again. He either lost it or gave it away. Anyway, I never heard much of his solo stuff but I think some of it was good. I met him after an Earthworks show and he was a little bit temperamental. Still a great drummer though.

Really? Some of the stuff he did with Holdsworth is amazing.

Meh. I'll stick with his recordings from Yes and King Crimson.

It always Feels Good to Me to give warm praise to some of our much-loved prog artists, and this time it's the turn of the legendary One of a Kind drummer, Bill Bruford. It Seems Like a Lifetime Ago since he was a member of YES and King Crimson, bands of which he was A Part, and Yet Apart from at various times. In the late 1970's,  his beloved Jazz Fusion project came to fruition in the form of Bruford. The third and final mysteriously-titled Bruford album, Gradually Going Tornado (1980), was apparently named after an exhibit by an obscure Romanian artist displayed at a London art gallery in 1974. Bill Bruford teamed up with keyboard wizard Patrick Moraz in the mid-1980's for two experimental albums of Music for Piano and Drums, and the Flags were flying high again for Bill in the late-80's when All Heaven Broke Loose in the progosphere  for the long-awaited Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe album in 1989. Bill was back to his old Stamping Ground of Jazz Fusion in 1987 with the formation of Earthworks, a band you can really Dig. Bill Bruford continues to  impress with Master Strokes of drumming prowess well into the 21st century, and to The Sound of Surprise from many of his fans, he released a traditional acoustic jazz quartet album in 2001. Finally, if you're still In Two Minds about Bill Bruford, then check out any of his jazzy Footloose and Fancy Free albums at the links below. Smile
