My favourite track from that album is "Syrups". |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

That's to be expected from someone whose username is "I prophesy disaster". |

Out of the three I originally selected, I guess I'll go with The Waterboys “Be My Enemy”.

I'm not sure which one to pick either. I think I'll go with Eye to Eye - "Mermaid Man". Yeah, let's do that one.

I think this time I'm going to go with "Instant Karma Coffeehouse," because it most resembles what would traditionally be a "hit" record, with a catchy chorus. I do love my other two choices though, though perhaps they aren't quite as "catchy" to some as to me.

Let's try and have our final nominations tomorrow (Monday), if not possible then Tuesday the latest. It's hard, I don't know which one to pick from my 5 choices.

Today I listened through the playlist and I will give some general impressions (there are too many songs to comment them all...). First, I think there is some confusion between" up-tempo" and "catchy", but please (no, please...) don't ask me to define "catchy". I liked most of the songs put up here. There are some rock-ballads, some beautiful songs, some real surprises, and a few real catchy songs, to my ears. Some tracks that were good surprises to me (Jarboli, Paola Turci, Eye to Eye), some good songs, but not necessarily of the catchy kind (Raf - very romantic-, Nik Kershaw, Portishead, Loud Sugar, Pinback...), some good (hard) rock (with a nod to BAND-MAID and the party-rock of Slave Raider, when it comes to the catchy kind), some catchy songs that make you want to be in a pub with a beer in the hand (Modena Ramblers, Young Dubliners, Enter the Haggis - but these last deserve better than that), and some real catchy songs. Of the catchy kind I note Rosu si Negru, Gogol Bordello (I love this one!), Gorillaz (they were made to be catchy...), Everything Everything and Imperial Teen (very much like both You're One and Everything - kind of King Missile meet The Kinks (or something). Too much to see straight But I'm waiting for more and for the nominations ! |

I apologize, I am on holidays, and so I have no time to follow the thread the way I would.
I will come back in September. My nomination is PAOLA TURCI: VOLO COSì |
