Mine is Selling England By The Pound, a wonderful recording.

I also like a lot Foxtrot, Nursery Crime, A Trick ... and Wind & Wuthering.

For me The Lamb... does little, sorry

using the equation (Early Genesis (1970-1975) = Symphonic Progressive Rock)
SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND...........not only the best Genesis album but the best EVER symphonic prog album, anybody who argues any other alternative isn't a cognoscenti of Symphonic prog....end of.....
I would concede that if your bag is eighties pop then you would most likely HATE SEBTP and love ABACAB...
Thus before nailing your colours to the mast - state your prevailing musical taste....

I won't attempt to define "best" in relation to Genesis, but I simply cannot get enough of 'A Trick of the Tail' lately...

Great post, from an American. I almost agree Wink  Iīll come back in a short while...
Shooooow-tunes! And what's all this then about SEBTP being "nice"? Talk about a minimalist sizing up. Great post from an American? Get off it already.

Would have to be Selling England by the Pound. But my overall favorite Hackett album would have to be Voyage of the Acolyte!

Trick of the Tail tops both Selling England, Lamb Lies Down, and Foxtrot all in one go. At least I think so.

A Trick of the Tail. It's their most consistent album from start to finish(imo).

You must have forgotten "Heathaze." It's such a beautiful and well written song.

SEBTP is my favorite Genesis album. I love The Lamb but it can be too spotty at times.
