Correction: ELP and their fans can now hold their heads high knowing they can ALMOST hold their own against even the most underrated 2nd division prog groups
don't tell me you were sweating it man .. if one or two (like GUIGO!!) had flipped their votes... perhaps if I had a bit more charm and persuavivness .. the vote would be flipped right now.
Actually. I think it's more like "if ELP were actually better than Camel, the vote would be flipped rIght now".
But they're not, so it isn't.
But please don't get the hump over it.
Some people are bad losers. I'm a bad winner!
you can THAT ^ being a bad winner. Dude.. we really do have to work on your internet skills. You lacked charisma as Camel Commander... sh*t talked like a complete poseur.. showed little creativity in your tactics. Hey.. you won.. now if ELP had won. THEN you would have seen a bad winner.. the party at ELP world HQ's would have been the stuff of legend. Women.. men.. farm animals.. all would be in various states of underess and extreme drunkeness.. PA's would be aglow in gloating and sh*t talking.. in fact we would have demoted Camel to a 3rd Division generic prog band for actually losing to the most reviled and unpopular in prog (well next to Dream Theater ) and one of the most criticially trashed groups in all music.
Congratulation on the victory.. but don't feel TOO good about it. You were this close to losing..you were behind yesterday.. and likely would have if General Micky had called in the reserves. I know I had at least 5 or even more votes sitting on FB of fans of the group that don't post or come here anymore that I didn't call in, wanting and still hoping until today we might pull this out without going to more .. creative tactics.
Good battle Camel fans.. you won.. but never forget.. you are more popular.. but you will never be the greater or more imporant group and ELP's classics will still be discovered and marvelled over when Camel is long forgotten.
Camel commander? Me?
No way. I didn't do anything - I wasn't really that bothered whether Camel won or lost. It's only a poll. I know loads of Camel fans who are members of PA but don't visit here any more, but I didn't bother to contact them to get them to vote. It was the ELP brigade who seemed to think it mattered.

IMHO this poll should be closed right now!
in all seriousness.. it was a lot of fun. As much fun as I thought it would be, but what it great was ELP keeping it close. As I alluded to, that in my eyes makes it a 'win' for ELP regardless of who advances.

Hasn't it got to be a tie in the first place Micky?
Oh yeah. I had decided to change after the last tie we broke but didn't see the point in mentioning it. As this one is so close, and people already figuring the tiebreaker, it was the right place to say the tiebreaking mechanism (if necessary) has changed but won't be known to the forum to not influence voting (oh.. a tie and we win).

No optical marks or chads on the butterfly ballots. Well done!
oh no. I do have a new way for breaking ties. It might not be announced on the general forum (secrecy and drama.. after all .. the whole intent is to have some 'over the top' fun).. but if it is needed (and would here i suppose if ELP DID tie it) the mechanism would be explained. Not here but in the collab zone thread where we are working on these contests. so no hanging chads or partisan court judges ignoring good common sense and the rule of law

New mechanism? Hummm...
Micky, were you in Florida in 2000?
I was on the losing side of that.
You would think that. My sinister reputation. Well cultivated, and earned
However I've been a good boy, this was not a life or death contest like some others here have been, and I've completely on the up and up. No alt-ID's, no campaigning for votes (and they are there) of friends and ex-collabs that no longer post here that are my friends on FB, that are big ELP fans. Using alt-ID's would have been below the belt, and to be honest, ELP has 'won' the poll already in my mind so I really didn't bother with the FB campaign. The final result pointless as either will get crushed next round.
By having such a close nip and tuck contest. ELP's reputation has been slightly restored.. and the best part.. doing so while have a good bit of forum fun
