Post Rock/Post Metal/Math Rock Thread

^^^ Very Good.  The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place is a pivotal album in the Post-Rock genre. Very simple, clear and melodic.  I can't say much about their other releases, though. Their latest was decent, but nothing more.

Primordial are actually a Black Metal band with slight folk elements. I think it can be quite similar at times the shoegazer influences of Post-Metal and the Black Metal atmosphere. I haven't heard their latest album yet so maybe they did really turned post-metal...

As for The Ocean...
The first time I listened to it I was blown away! But after the third listen I'd say its a 3 star album. Still, for a "Post-metal band" (I don't think this album is post-metal...) it's very unique.

I think it's alright, not great, not bad....I'm listening to it right now for the second time.

Honestly, Rosetta took a few listens for me to get into.  At first they seemed ordinary, then I didn't like the presence of the vocals, but eventually I just gave into how incredibly epic their sound is.  Their sound is more expansive than any other band in the genre IMO.

Also, I listened to Precambrian all the way through today.

HOLY FREAKIN CRAP IT ROCKS.

I have this same quarrel with them.  However, The Galilean Satellites was definitely a better album than Wake/Lift.  I just love how they absolutely worship reverb.  Their sound is so huge!

I've been listening to The Ocean, and I feel the vocals are a little weak unfortunatly :(.

I'm listening to *shels and Souvenir's Young America for the first time.  I'm quite impressed.  both of these bands are very original for the genre... especially *shels.

In fact, *shels could be a 5 star album.  Really amazing.
