I believe that it was that we could post a link to a translation or lyrics, but not post the lyrics, themselves?

@ Lorenzo Cool, I'm looking forward to hosting the Asia poll! Sure, the more people join the better. But Asia is a huge continent and offers a wide range of music and artists to choose from. There is not just East or Southeast Asia, you have oriental Asia and Eurasian countries as well. In case of bands not all members must be necessarily Asian. A collaboration with an Asian artist is another option. Think of John McLauglin and his Mohavishnu Orchestra f.e. Besides, wasn't there an Africa poll in the past? About posting the original song lyrics, I can't see a problem here. If we post videos, lyrics should be allowed as well. They are publicly available and they are for private use only. @ Christian Yes, of course there are many options. However, people who join this poll should also show some interest in the lyrics in the traditional sense. Edited by Mila-13 - August 12 2021 at 15:04 |

Mila-13 In general I am in favor of any theme (and also the absence of a theme), the important thing is that it is large enough for everyone to participate. I would say that after the Lewian poll you could open yours on Asia. Again: the important thing is to allow participants to select not only songs from Asian bands but also Asian-style songs from Western bands. About the lyrics of the songs: Logan says we shouldn't post the original English copyrighted ones (translations I think are ok) |

I'll leave that to the participants. This is not necessarily about the lyrics, it can also be about how the whole thing sounds - the spoken word used as music/sound if you want. It's up to the participants to use their own criteria.

@Christian In fact, in this edition it would even make sense to post lyrics no matter what language, unless the text is short or very simple? Anyway, I'm looking forward to your poll. Cheers!

@Mila-13: I'll kick off tomorrow or Saturday. Other languages that English are fine and translations can be included for sure. I'd expect some people to read them and some others maybe not. That's how life goes.

Hey Christian, a cool theme indeed. I'm in! When is the kick off? A whole lot of options come to mind. I'm a big fan of poetry and good song lyrics. I would like to submit a few songs in languages other than English. Can I include an English translation? Could be a bit tricky, though. Not sure people will read them. Hey Lorenzo, I just would like to let you guys know that I haven't forgotten you. I had to take care of my mother after surgery and it took longer than expected. But now I'm back and ready to host my Asia themed poll. I hope you guys are still interested? Edited by Mila-13 - August 12 2021 at 08:22 |

And sadly , although there's lots of great stuff of this kind on PA (see below, just as appetiser), I'll not allow for it. |

For everyone who'd like start looking for their nominations already, this one will be about the spoken word in music. Yes it can be rap, but also all kinds of other uses of spoken words. There may also be proper singing, instrumental parts, whatever you like, but some spoken words need to be there. (We have to do this at some point, don't we? ) |

Oh, well, you may explain the theme of your poll in the conference! 😁 |

Ah, is it my turn? I'm in the middle of a conference, but can start Friday or Saturday. I have a theme so that's not the issue.

I'm gonna create the magical poll a couple of hours later, technically it will be on Monday in where I live (Turkey). Magic suits to the night better.

Cool that you liked the idea! Here are some keywords to give you further ideas: magic/magician, sorcery/sorcerer, wizardry/wizard, conjuration/conjurer, illusion/illusionist, trick/trickster, enchant/enchanter, ensorcell/ensorceller, necromancy/necromancer, alchemy/alchemist, transmute, evocation, devilry, thaumaturgy, bewitch, voodoo, spell, mage, presage, soothsayer, caster etc.
Like I said, you can think of something figuratively too. It can be a love song, for instance, where someone puts a spell on another. |

Yep many great possibilities with that theme as long as no one uses Steve Miller Band's embarrassing "Abracadabra"
