Steve, just saw the Subsignal news. Thanks. Demos sounding pretty nice. That old rhythm section of SE was a beast but I like getting some keyboards in their sound.
Saw you gave Subconscious a listen today. Wonder why? |

Hourglass
are presently finalising their 3rd studio album entitled " Oblivious to the Obvious".
"Oblivious to the Obvious" will be a double disc set, ranging from Rock to Progressive Metal. Amidst their own recognizable sound, you might hear influences that span decades, from Pink Floyd to Dream Theater, Rush to Symphony X
The band's focus will always be great songwriting without sacrificing great musicianship. Samples of each track are available on their website, a few songs in their entirety on their MySpace. Damn good they sound too.
The final track listing for the new album is:
Disc 1 1. On the Brink (12:39) Disc 2 1. Facade (14:50)

Hey John, thanks very much for the information. I'd completely missed it. Four years in the making and a double album! 2009 is going to be a very expensive year but I am not complaining!
I'll post the details in a separate post below shortly.

Thanks Andy! Calendar updated.
I was looking forward to that in a couple of weeks too! I don't think they have let the retailers know of the date change either as they still quote January.
Especially good news about the new album as well. Woot!!

Persona Non Grata have signed with Sensory and will be releasing their debut in March next year. See calendar for further details.
Persona Non Grata’s formation began in 2003 when John Ioannidis (keyboards) invited Chris Gatsos (guitars) to join his group Fatal Error. It didn’t’ take long for John and Chris to realize that they had to move on to progressive metal music which was a mix of rock that John loved to play and heavy metal that Chris grew up with. In order to achieve this they had to change the band’s line up. During this period they focused on writing the music which would be the material for their first CD “Shade In The Light”.
It was 2 years later when vocalist, Bill Axiotis, joined the PnG group and they started recording this album. They asked session musicians Akis Gavalas (drums) and Chris Vogiatzis (Bass) to help record the album. When the sessions were over they felt a synergy with the three members of the band and came on board permanently, completing the lineup of Persona Non Grata. |

Forgotten Suns have signed to Prog Rock records and will be releasing their debut with the label in the New Year. See calendar for details. "This is truly the best progressive piece we did up to date, it will not be easy to overcome tracks like 'News', 'Outside In' or 'Nanoworld' on future albums – all tracks got the hooks for the most demanding progressive rock & metal fans with dense song writing - which is already a Forgotten Suns trademark - intricate polyrhythmic passages, deep lyrics, great singing and roaring solos on all instruments… " |

Aeon Zen
Richard Hinks and Lloyd Musto are Aeon Zen, formed in July 2008. They are music students at Goldsmiths College, London.
The following is the latest update on their debut album progress; from what I've heard so far this could well be one of the releases of 2009. The guest appearances alone are making me salivate already! Please visit their website for further information.
First off, we are delighted to announce that Nils K. Rue from the band Pagan's Mind will be appearing on 2 tracks on the first Aeon Zen album. This completes the line up for the album, which will be detailed a bit further down!
Secondly, the album is to be called A Mind's Portrait. We also have a tentative release date of 1st May 2009 on Time Divide Records. So keep your eyes and ears peeled and open (respectively of course) for that! Also if you haven't noticed, the album sample availble to listen to either on our website or our myspace is page is being periodically updated as we gradually have more and more passages of audio excitement that we just have to share with you. So remember to check that periodically if you want to hear more of the album as it progresses. So yes, back onto album details! We can finally release a definitive (for now at least) track listing for A Mind's Portrait as follows: 1. Existence (featuring Andi Kravljaca (Silent Call) & Matt Shepherd (Timefall)) 2. Time Divine (featuring Nils K. Rue (Pagan's Mind) & Matt Shepherd (Timefall)) 3. Blinded Rain (featuring Andi Kravljaca) 4. Hope's Echo Pt. I (featuring Andreas Novak (Mind's Eye) 5. Hope's Echo Pt. II (featuring Andreas Novak) 6. A Mind's Portrait 7. The Circle's End 8. Heavens Falling (featuring Cristian Van Schuerbeck (All Too Human)) 9. Into the Infinite (featuring Nils K. Rue) 10. Goddess 11. The Demise of the Fifth Sun (featuring Elyes Bouchoucha (Myrath)) I think that about covers it. We will also be gradually releasing videos documenting the album process some time in the not too distant future so there are still plenty of goodies to look out for. A Mind's Portrait, to be released on Time Divide Records on 1st May 2009. |
