YES YES YES YES!!!! I so agree with you man. Morse is one of my heroes! I love the man. His music is so good, his lyrics, his passion, his talent, his humility, and his compassionate love for his fanbase. I've had the pleasure of meeting him briefly after two shows the Whirlwind Tour and T2 Tour. Just from meeting him for a minute both times (if even that) I could feel a true spirit of authenticity and love.
Read his Testimony book too, it's incredible. I love prog and I'm so happy there is a guy who is souled out for Christ, is insanely talented (putting out almost always mastepiece albums almost every year), and plainly puts on an amazing amazing show. He is a true performer and showman.
Yeah Morse is a huge inspiration to me!!!!! And I wouldn't say he's one of my favorite musicians. To me he is my FAVORITE PERIOD!!!
And it's wonderful to hear that because of his music you came to know Christ. I bet that would mean the world to him to know that there are people like you who came to Christ because of his music. Talk about being humbled ha ha.

Great that you feel the same! Smile
Lucky you. You got to saw Neal in person for even 1 min. I wish I could meet him atleast once. I will thank him from the bottom of my heart for what he has done to me. Smile
And a small clarification, I am not a christian. I am a Hindu.
Although Morse's music is more about Christianity, I could see the love for God and the passion and the beauty/grace, which opened my eyes and I became more religious thanks to him although I am not christian. But his music made me love my god even more Smile

rock on Hindu Neal Morse fan!!  i'm an atheist and i like Neal too.  no chance in converting me though.  once you go atheist the path to hell is paved with truth....Cool

Neal's music is definitely most awesome. The new album is good; not as good as most of the others, but still good.

Also, I read elsewhere that the ? suite consisted of the first four songs, the latter half of 12 and Entrance.

And the Testimony suite was Sleeping Jesus through Wasted Life.

Very Nice Setlist Catcher10!
The only mediocre song in that was Weathering Sky as many said.
I dont know why; I didn't like it. It sounded just too normal to me.
Nice that he's playing Author of Confusion quite frequently!
How did Portnoy play throughout the set? Of course he would have rocked. Any instances worth telling? Smile

I know Paul Gilbert played in the album! That guy is immaculate. I used to listen to RacerX a lot.
Gilbert played only solos in select segments of the album. The rest was played by Neal.
I meant the intro riff in keyboard/guitar which comes around 0:40 of Door.
That's why I got surprised. Even I thought that was Gilbert on guitar, but no. It was Morse.

EDIT: I didn't see darkshade's post and your reply to it. Guess this is sort of like a double reminder. Sorry for that!

My 5 are:
1) One (not sure why it is not listed much in this thread)
2) Testimony 1
3) ?
4) Testimony 2
5) Whirlwind
PS-Only have heard Sola Scripture once and for some reason have not gotten it yet or Momentum, so I could not rate these yet.

Oh yeah, have a blast Catcher10!

Thanks pal! It is true. His music really changed the way I perceive this life.
Great collection BTW.
The reason why I haven't included Testimony 2 is because I havent heard it yet.
But I am sure it would be great and Top 5 material. Smile

I'm pretty sure Paul Gilbert only played the last guitar solo in The Door and the opening guitar solo in The Conflict. All the riffs and other guitar stuff is Neal himself. He's no slouch on guitar, though I prefer other guitarists when it comes to solos and leads, but as a rhythm player, Neal is really good.

Oh yeah, you're right; I was confusing The Door with The Conflict; I thought appudds was talking about Gilbert's solos at the beginning of The Conflict.

I don't remember what Morse's solo went like, but I'm willing to bet that it was a good deal better than what Gilbert did.

Awesome set by the way. all killer songs of Neal's, and one OK song in Weathering Sky. Interesting encore.

i have a feeling he played a medley of the ? tunes.  i like weathering sky.  wish he would play more dates.  at least hit the major cities.  i think if he'd do this every year he'd be more well known and gather a bigger following.  TFK need to do this too.  or maybe do a Kickstart for a tour.

Agreed completely. Though I can always catch NYC shows from Neal or The Flower Kings (if they ever come here), it would be nice to see more than a few dates in North America.

i did a double take when i saw '? suite'.  i thought that ment that he and the band would just pull together a suite of random parts of his epicsTongue  i bet he could do it!  i can just see him and mike telling the other guys...'okay, we're going to do Whirlwind Overture into the end of Seeds of Gold into The Light into the end of The Door'.    Cool

[QUOTE=zumacraig] [QUOTE=appudds]To me, one of the greatest treasures I found in music is Neal Morse and his works.
They have really inspired me and taken me to a new level.
I became a born again religious person because of him.
His lyrics have quite a meaning, depth, passion and emotion. Unlike any I have heard before.
Every time I listen to his emotional vocal segments, I get a chill in my spine.
I have heard his Transatlantic stuff and I really liked his vocals and keyboarding skills.
I initially haven't heard much of his solo albums and expected them to be mainly vocal dominant with little emphasis on instruments.
I was completely wrong.
The first album I heard was Sola Scriptura
And man, I was blown away.
I thought Neal was only a great keyboard player and occasionally played acoustic guitar.
But when I heard that intro riff on The Door, I as shocked. Is that Neal on guitar? Yes!
This guy is equally good in guitaring as he is in keyboard I feel!
And as I went on to his next album, Testimony, I received the shock of my life.
I cant believe one guy, just one guy, wrote a 120 min song (Although the album is split into pieces, its considered one full song)
And to top it all, continue with another 120 minute segment Testimony 2!
Totally, 240 minutes of progressive music on one theme!
That is beyond my contemplation!
And Testimony is his best album! The guitar playing, the keyboard playing, the vocals, the lyrics, the orchestration. All are brilliant! This guy is a living legend for me. TO come up with albums typically 60-100 mins long every year! And that too which are consistently good. Only Neal Morse can do it.
His recent new album Momentum also was good. I liked World Without End in particular.
He has become one of my most favourite musicians of all time.
And importantly, he is one of those rare good souls who really wanted others to "wake up" and realise the beauty of God. Hats off to you, Mr.Morse. You are a blessed soul!
