well it sounds like you certainly hit a nerve with the State Trooper - do you think he was in on the illegal activities? you did the best thing and scarpered, you were in a bad place.
Here in UK I am a local Neighbourhood Watch volunteer, i have contacts with the local Police about any funny goings-on, if they have such neighbourhood schemes in the US it might be an idea to organise one in the area you are in now.
This is a rant of mine, I hope you enjoy it. In 1998 we moved into a trailer park in south jersey. On the day that I transported the furniture I met my neighbour, who upon introducing himself claimed to be a born again christian. He was a self employed carpenter. After about a week of settling in, I started to notice drug traffic pulling into his house, which would begin at 10:am and end at 2:00pm. I said nothing. My trailer was broken into and I lost about a thousand dollars which was stored in a safe deposit box. I couldn't care less about the money but, was concerned over my childrens well being. I noticed a few of my neighbours had toddlers like me. I felt a bit concerned for their kids so I warned them about the break in. Everyone in the park was doing lawn work that day and so we developed a kind of huddle in the street. Many neighbours said that their lawn mowers were stolen from their backyards and they knew the party involved. They stated that my next door neighbour was the key to the whole mystery.
About 30 minutes later, there was a knock at the door. I answered and was greeted by a state trooper. He asked, are you warning your neighbours about a robbery? I repiled yes we are all concerned about our environment here. He replied, NO! You are concerned about the environment here, I just received 7 complaints from your neighbours for harrassment. He says, let me tell you something, if you continue to talk about this with anyone in the park, I'm going to arrest you. The following night the electricity went out and all H broke loose next door. Their was a fight between the dealer and 3 of his customers. There were death threats and glass breaking in the street. I left the kids with a friend and ran across the park to knock on the owners door. His wife answered and with a pressured voice said, what are you doing knocking on my f door at 10:00 at night? I explained to her what was happening in the park and she said, call the police you idiot! I explained that a power line must have failed and that the phones were not working. She slammed the door. About 30 minutes later, the same state trooper showed up once again and said to never knock on anyone's door in the park. I decribed my neighbour and the incident which had taken place over an hour ago. He responded by asking if I were taking drugs?
In the mornings I would walk my daughter to the bus stop for pre-school. A preacher who lived on the corner approached me and said that the people living at my neighbours trailer were selling bags of white dope to young kids. I asked, you mean teenagers? No! ten year olds he claimed. I asked him, why don't you call the police the next time you see this sort of activity? He replied, what good would it do when it takes the police about 30 minutes to get here? I then phoned the state troopers and spoke to them regarding this matter. They simply stated that no one has issued complaints about this guy. I then took up the new attitude of......When all is said and done, eat me. I rented a u-haul and packed everything in 2 days. I took a stand that day. Regarding justice? I had to make a decision on my own. In order for my kids to live a healthy life, I had to make a stand. It's very much in the past now but, I still don't understand this experience and have a difficult time in making an analogy of the situation. I have never been good at dealing with life experiences in the style of this one.

F-16's are the worst jet to work on. I would love to meet one of the original designers, shake his hand then beat him to a pulp for making my life a living hell. Also, the USAF needs to get their priorities straight and stop worrying about how many sorties have been flown each month and how thin our waists are. We're maintainers, let us maintain and leave us the f*** alone... SIr.

DAMN! I had just finished writing a long review of Meshuggah's ObZen when my computer crashed before I could submit it! Damned be my PC!
At least you didn't do like my mom. She had a web class and every time she got near to submitting her homework she would accidentally press backspace and erase it.

can autotune do harmonies?
What is the point of autotune anyway? It just proves the fact that today pop stars are less singers and more performers. I think it is the reason Susan Boyle surprised so many people, they all assume that beauty= good singing because that is what they see on the tv, unlike many of my favorite vocalists, who are far(very faaar) from what is considered handsome(except Gilmour?)
If you can't sing or play an instrument you should try harder, not erase your mistakes.
Stylized autotune has infected nearly every song on the radio, and I think it's a legitimate use, even if the results are annoying. You wouldn't be able to create a song like Life After Love by Cher or I've Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas without the use of it.
I understand using it for that, but I have heard some pop/country singers live and it is amazing how much worse they sound. Also, I don't care if Cher uses autotune or not because she is actually a good singer. However, it sounds horrible when every single song has constant pitch perfect vocals.

Language is ridiculous.
I wonder how exactly we just started assigning grunts to certain things, and designating squiggles and lines to represent them. Likewise, how did so many pop up!
OK, I'm burnt out from all this German HW I've had to do. But interesting/slightly annoying point none the less? I'm going on little sleep, maybe this made no sense at all...

it is a very basic recording technique called double tracking, they've been doing it since the 60's, virtually all vocals are double tracked, simple but effective..
Well then they got worse at it, because it didn't use to be this annoying.

Deserts. Honestly if you live in a desert, leave. There are few reasons to live in a desert. The deserts of Southwestern US should never have been settled. It's not like the rest of the country was filled up and the only place left was the desert. People actively decided to set up camp there and stay. It makes no sense.
