Riverside

Exactly 44 minutes and 44 seconds will be the length of the upcoming, fourth Riverside album entitled “Anno Domini High Definition,” the most energetic and rockin’ record of the band. The material recorded in Studio X in Olsztyn will be released worldwide on June 19th, 2009 by InsideOut, and on June 15th, 2009 in Poland by Mystic Production. The booklet layout has again been designed by Travis Smith.

There will be five pieces on the album:

1. Hyperactive
2. Driven to Destruction
3. Egoist Hedonist
4. Left Out
5. Hybrid Times

Some of them will be played at the forthcoming Riverside concert – on April 26th in Studio club in Kraków.

So, step by step, rather fast than slowly, we have finished  mixing the material. Fast, because recording an album about  haste for two years would be a hypocrisy. Are we satisfied with  the final result? Yes. Are we sure? Sure. I think that for many  people it will be our best album. And for the others certainly  the second best - right after their favourite one. :) We put  more emphasis on playing rock - we are a rock band after all. Do you remember the energy on some old rock records, the energy  that in one moment just evaporated? Well, we wanted to refer to  that somehow. The material is colourful, diverse, there is a lot happening there. I think that when it comes to concerts, this  album will turn out the best of all.

Lyrics-wise it is not one story, as it was in the case of the  trilogy, told from the beginning to the end, but you may as well say it is. For me those are rather thoughts of all those people  who wake up every day afraid that maybe this day their "sell-by  date" expires. It will be a story about people who, before  having learnt how to use device X, angrily state that it is no  longer fashionable. Even worse - no longer usable, and now  device Y should be used. An album about those who know that if  they don't quicken the pace, they will stay behind. About those  who sometimes despite themselves must stop at nothing to achive  their aims. About those who realise that one of the most popular  diseases nowadays does not only concern screaming kids running  amok, but also the majority of adults who simply cannot pull  themselves together, organise their lives as they would wish to.  Do not confuse it with laziness! It will be an album about  chaos, constant race, uncertainty, stress, and... the attempt to  survive. How would we present this topic? With ballads? Of  course there will be some calmer moments, melodies, but...  generally it will kick ass! For example, Szymon's ass was  kicked. And usually it's very hard to kick him, because he  shields himself.

Some of you will ask: why write about something that is  happening all around? Why record an album that will not take us  far away from reality? Here I will clear my throat and say that,  personally, I wanted to sum up this decade and draw some psychological  portraits of the contemporary man (in parenthesis there should  be something in Latin now). Moreover, I think that this kind of  albums is necessary, even if we only "apply" them to ourselves  once in a while like a vaccine to become immune, to survive, but  most of all not to let ourselves go crazy in these hybrid and  hyperactive times.

And just to finish - I think that just as much as a lot of us  want and have to escape the racing reality (as often as  possible), it will be - I hope so - impossible to want to escape  this music for a long time. And I know what I'm saying, because  I'm stuck in this studio with the guys third month in a row. I  hope that the results of our work will leak out soon - after all  we live in that kind of world now.

Best regards,
Red Roy

Canvas Solaris

(from MS)

We are 90% with the actual recording process. The endless process of mixing is now upon us. It's now in the hands of Jamie King to work the magic he has worked with us on the last albums. We definitely appreciate his and Chris' efforts on this one.
It's been an interesting ride on this one. Expect a different, new and hopefully interesting direction from the previous albums. The introduction of power tools into the Canvas Solaris has been established (perhaps a pending endorsement from Dewar or any other manufacturer providing the rugged durability required for progressive metal?).
Expect 2 songs from the new guys (Chris and I). Our apologies ahead of time.
We are definitely pleased with the result thus far, even prior to mixing.
Working title on this one (be sure to include on your leaked copy): Heliotrope.
Expected release date (post leaked copy): fall of 2009. We hope not to clash with other platinum record releases (looking at you Britney).
Chris can now go back to listening to Rihanna full time.

Liquid Tension Experiment

Live Box Set

(from MS)

Originally, my intention was to record several shows and combine them to make one compilation CD/DVD release....but in reviewing the tapes, it became very obvious that the NYC and LA footage each offered very different perspectives of the shows we did...each with their own distinct personalities and both having their own charms (and flaws....)

The NYC show was very much a loud, sweaty, small club show (with alot of energy from the crowd) and the LA show was very much a more polished, breathing, theater experience (which offered a more relaxed "presentation").

So in the end, I decided to simply offer both shows in their entirety...
It's not often people will get to experience LTE Live, so why not offer you guys the chance to see and hear us in both settings....?
And even though the setlists are the same, you can hear some very subtle (and also some very obvious) differences from one performance to the next...

MP

Great news from Redemption!

(from MS)

Hello folks. Been a while since an update...hopefully for those interested the DVD has been a good means of tiding you over, but we will have new music out in the next few months and I can share some details at this time.

Redemption's fourth CD, Snowfall on Judgment Day, is expected to be released this summer worldwide through Inside Out. The album is currently being mixed and mastered by our good and talented friend Tommy Newton, who produced our last two CDs and whose work also includes Conception, Helloween, UFO and others, at Area 51 Studios in Celle, Germany. Artwork will once again be by our creative visual partner Travis Smith.

Musically, we have continued to grow and expand on the basic Redemption formula. We have continued to push the envelope of heaviness combined with strong melody and emotional urgency in the music and I think the collection of songs is very strong, with some very in-your-face tunes that are among the heaviest in prog metal to some quieter, more elaborate moments, with technical thrown in where it belongs.

The tentative track listing is:

Peel
Walls
Leviathan Rising
Black and White World
Unformed
Keep Breathing
Another Day Dies
What Will You Say
Fistful of Sand
Love Kills Us All / Life in One Day

I am particular excited to report that Another Day Dies is a duet between Ray Alder and a very special guest vocalist, James LaBrie of Dream Theater!

Once a firm release date is set, I'll provide another update. We're really looking forward to getting new music in your hands.

Thanks again for your interest and support!

Nick van Dyk

Redemption is:
Ray Alder - Vocals
Nick van Dyk - Guitars and keyboards
Bernie Versailles - Guitars
Sean Andrews - Bass
Chris Quirarte - Drums
Greg Hosharian - Keyboards and keyboard solos

OSI

(already announced in main forum, details PLUS tracklist follows: see calendar for further info)

Alternating between subtly atmospheric and brutally aggressive elements, while effortlessly
transcending barriers between a variety of genres, Blood is a compelling statement from the exceptional duo of Jim Matheos (Fate's Warning) and Kevin Moore (Chroma Key, ex- Dream Theater).

Following its impressive predecessors, Office Of Strategic Influence (2003) and Free (2006), Blood is the third release by OSI and unites two exceptional composers who share a penchant for the unusual. “We have different musical tastes but an unspoken musical understanding," Moore has said about the partnership.

Along with Moore and Matheos, Blood features Porcupine Tree drummer Gavin Harrison throughout, and a guest appearance by Opeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt on Stockholm.

No-Man's Tim Bowness sings on the bonus CD track No Celebrations.

With Blood, O.S.I. have succeeded in creating a fascinating album at the cutting edge of Rock, Electronica and Progressive Metal.

Mixed with Grammy winner Phil Magnotti.

Tracks

1. The Escape Artist
2. Terminal
3. False Start
4. We Come Undone
5. Radiologue
6. Be The Hero
7. Microburst Alert
8. Stockholm
9. Blood

Special Edition Bonus CD (approx. 25 min.):

1. No Celebrations
2. Christian Brothers

From Kongh's myspace:

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Current mood:  mellow
Yes, times of movement has been brought upon thee. We will enter the studio tomorrow to kick off the recording sessions for our second album. Once again the place is Teknikkompaniet in Vetlanda, Sweden and hopefully the recording will be done in about a month. Keep checking back often for pictures, studio reports, pretentious videos where we speak bad english to each other and whatnot.
The album, to be entitled "Shadows of the shapeless" will include 5 massive tunes and we're aiming for a May release on both sides of the pond.
See you soon,
Kongh

Orphaned Land

(from MS)

Israel’s progressive folk metal masters ORPHANED LAND are currently recording the highly anticipated follow-up to 2004’s “Mabool”, vocalist Kobi Farhi states:

“Hello there to all the ORphaned warriors of light - we are very happy that we finally entered the studio to deliver you the long awaited concept album – “ORwarriOR”!
The album is going to be more than 70 minutes long and as usual many traditional instruments and languages will be involved in the process. In my opinion this is the best ORPHANED LAND album ever! We can't wait for you to put your hands on it and we look forward to tour and meet you all on the road! Check out our diary from the studio at our Ultimate Metal forum and see you all soon! Your Orphaned brother - Kobi.
