That's a good point........I highly doubt someone like Marco is on their radar and for those reasons I think they would use a drummer like Cameron who will give them a different feel. Pretty much any drummer that has been suggested is going to want to play like Neil or feel they need to. If they put out an album with Bubbles & The Sh*t Rockers........that would make Neil LMFAO from above!!

Dirk and Lerxst playing with Mike or Marco would seem like an attempt to be nuRush.
I liked Matt Cameron drumming for Geddy on My Favorite Headache. Matt's a great drummer with a very different style and sound. |

Boy Portnoy has come up often, but I don't think out of the mouths of Alex or Geddy. I really do not see Portnoy doing anything with them together, possibly in solo projects. I also doubt they do anything that calls to be a Rush band ever again. Its hard to read between the lines of what Geddy has said in interviews, but I don't hear huge passion yet. Alex has had interview since Neil's passing and I think its going to be awhile if at all if he does something, I would expect guest spots if anything as you can tell he is not in any musical mood since Neil's passing. Covid has probably put them back 2-3 yrs from doing anything............At best I would expect a solo album or two.

I wonder if Alex and Geddy will try to find a new drummer to play with. No, I'm not suggesting they would ever call themselves Rush again but I get the feeling they might want to play in a band together again at some point. If they do I wonder if they would consider Mike Portnoy. I think he would be the most logical choice. Is there someone else who would be just as appropriate? Maybe Dave Grohl. I can't really think of too many others though. Maybe Marco Minnemann or Gavin Harrison too but they're probably too busy. Mike is probably busy too but something tells me he would make room in his schedule.

Well with Covid, one can make argument since your home locked up, what better way to spend your time than reading up on old threads that have so much history and flavor from years past.
I started a thread, can't remember where about PA and some old threads, it was really cool to go back and read thru some of that stuff from 10-12yrs ago. For sure the conversations were different but seemed more engaging. Carry on.........

I agree with you, but with the Covid lockdown forcing people to stay home, etc. I thought it would be a good idea to start another one and let people enjoy themselves. The admins are hit or miss here so who knows when they will be available to unlock an old one. You dig?

I vote no new thread for Genesis.............There is history in the older threads that new people should read up on, they will get a flavor of what this place used to be like. The Rush Fan Central was before this Rush thread. The Flower Kings thread is only active because a very few of us will post something there maybe 1-2x a month. Go back in pages and you'll see long breaks.
Should we "lock" old bands out of being added to PA?

Haha. Genesis deserves a new thread. And countless more after that. There are so many aspects to consider and reconsider for ages past.

well, it's already created. PA forum is the only place you can find same topic repeated endlessly. Any other place will send you to the old original thread and lock the new one up.

^ Well, there's' a lot of newer members here, so it's probably better to start from scratch.
