TIME COLLIDER If you've got the time, then they've got the music. Time Collider are loud and they're proud and they're on a collision course and taking no prisoners, so light the blue touch paper, stand well back and watch the fireworks as this fine band are ready to set the world alight. Then again, they could fizzle out like a damp squib. Will there be a second album? Only time will tell. Sorry, I know that's a tired old cliche, but on a level playing field, it can't always be avoided at the end of the day, but all's well that ends well. 2018: Time Collider - Travel Conspiracy - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lE6qAzQ-54Oh-s59a0EBJLDraMGJr0cFY

TIGER MOTH TALES Chocks awaaaay! It's time to take flight with Tiger Moth Tales, a squadron of Neo Prog aviators from the county of Nottinghamshire and captained by squadron leader Peter Jones - not the guy from Dragons' Den, but a blind singer and multi-instrumentalist who's probably best-remembered now for appearing in the 2015 remake of Steve Hackett's Spectral Mornings with David Longdon of Big Big Train and Christina Booth of Magenta, but if you don't recall that momentous event in the progosphere, then here's a timely reminder. 2014: Tiger Moth Tales - Cocoon - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wI6Yu9u24yg 2015: Tiger Moth Tales - Storytellers: Part One - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWvlf5y3ZFU 2017: Tiger Moth Tales - The Depths of Winter - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8RYHiCLJs0 2018: Tiger Moth Tales - Storytellers: Part Two - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZEjljtYKI4 Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 14 2023 at 04:13 |

THIEVES' KITCHEN Not a den of iniquity, but an eclectic Neo Prog trio from Swindon. Thieves' Kitchen's albums are priced at around £12 on Amazon, which isn't exactly a steal, but it's not daylight robbery either. 2000: Thieves' Kitchen - Head - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZnS-VB8A5PNajXI5eGzYJ0 2001: Thieves' Kitchen - Argot - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbeyisUIffZDR_krhN3YXni 2003: Thieves' Kitchen - Shibboleth - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbUPhscoKq4zFp6JHatfspi 2008: Thieves' Kitchen - The Water Road - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbek_Y0N98TMFUUsYdJWB4r 2013: Thieves' Kitchen - One for Sorrow, Two for Joy - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEYfHnQ8lI0A9YUMB0XUfztr 2015: Thieves' Kitchen - The Clockwork Universe - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZDaiC7DXTiT35e6ZN7aRce 2019: Thieves' Kitchen - Genius Loci - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbheE6AIF6W_3z2huVYqHQZ |

Neo Prog Britannia THIRD QUADRANT A multi-layered Neo Prog foursome with many stories to tell. It'd be a crime to skip them, just like crime in multi-storey car parks, which is wrong on so many different levels. 1982: Third Quadrant - Seeing Yourself as You Really Are - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bNZn5Rhk7Q 1988: Third Quadrant - Layered |

MICHAEL ALAN TAYLOR "A great battle is a terrible thing," the old knight said "but in the midst of blood and carnage, there is sometimes also beauty, beauty that could break your heart!"...... And so it is with the beautiful music of Michael Alan Taylor, who's taking a break from Neo Prog band Nth Ascension to present this magnificent swords and sorcery epic of Arthurian legend, where gallant knights in white shining armour come to the rescue of fair maidens in distress. Surely the most epic tale since Rick Wakeman presented King Arthur on Ice, but at a fraction of the cost. 2018: Michael Alan Taylor - Avalonia (The Sonnets of Guinevere) - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lXkEL6wWKJh_UyirC6BwLqdd_2IAyJdUs Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 10 2023 at 00:26 |

TAMARISK The tamarisk is an ancient African tree mentioned in the Bible, representing hope and life and symbolizing new beginnings. The tamarisk tree is also noted for its ability to survive in harsh conditions and is a symbol of strength and resilience, just like Tamarisk the band, who survived the first wave of British Neo Prog in the early 1980's and made a remarkable comeback forty years later with a new album, titled "Suspended Animation", appropriately enough. Their 2012 album, "Frozen in Time" is just what it says on the label too, a compilation harking back to Tamarisk's nascent beginnings in the early 1980's. Tamarisk aren't afraid to risk political controversy either, as their song "Total Coverage (The Battle of Bean Field)" details the events surrounding the massive clash between the police and New Age travellers at the ancient monument of Stonehenge in Wiltshire in the summer of 1985, which still remains shrouded in controversy to this day. In fact, it's one of the most shocking events in British political history since we first discovered that Lib-Dem leader Paddy Pantsdown had had an extra-marital affair! 2012: Tamarisk - Frozen in Time - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mDGQ5wci0V67zeEx8x66gcrmVTGM7zcSo 2018: Tamarisk - 332018LIVE! - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_m98NxSkePGUL0Ii3p42g2A84M_i-ACIS0 2021: Tamarisk - Suspended Animation - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nSC0D_R6r6TdChQN3vk_E-lzonReup1OE Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 09 2023 at 03:36 |

STRANGERS ON A TRAIN It's that man again. Yes, keyboard wizard Clive Nolan is back with another amazing band to entertain and delight. Strangers on a Train also includes Tracy Hitchings (of Landmarq) and Karl Groom (of Threshold), so what more could you ask for in a Neo Prog band!?? The name of the band is a reference to the classic Hitchcock thriller of 1951, although I'm glad to say no one ends up getting murdered in the band, so there's no blood on the tracks. If it's Action, Suspense & Drama you're looking for though, "The Key" trilogy of rolling stock is running on full locomotive power and with Clive Nolan involved, you can bet your bottom dollar there are no passengers on this train. The "trilogy" has the unusual distinction of being only two albums. A third album was planned and may still arrive at the station some time in the future - which will surely be a long train a-running - but sadly, it won't include Tracy Hitchings. 1990: Strangers on a Train - The Key, Part 1: The Prophecy - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXoR8LJsW2w 1993: Strangers on a Train - The Key, Part 2: The Labyrinth - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NMT3wwtVa4 |

SOLSTICE A band of tree-hugging neo-pagan proggers from the New Town of Milton Keynes in central England. Milton Keynes is a town-planner's dream-come-true, made famous (or notorious) for its concrete cows and seemingly endless traffic circles, which may or may not have inspired storyteller Jon 'Christian' Anderson's Roundabout. 1984: Solstice - Silent Dance - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lZUmwOp666bEfK_Va65b1O_QWHzPaF9O0 1992: Solstice - New Life - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nCGhvq9CGz0-FzoXMZawbeYpYVMReutTg 1997: Solstice - Circles - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_TaS3ukydpJS5Mzh8sKdfggo3KYgdb7b 2010: Solstice - Spirit - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_TaS3ukydpJiXJ_p7OaRdQ4_b9m9the4 2011: Solstice - Kindred Spirits - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_TaS3ukydpKlA4jH3LyhuVS8HId_gqUB 2013: Solstice - Prophecy - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_TaS3ukydpIK9Vl8zcoSVb1ipJ8xgaqp 2020: Solstice - Sia - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nIfqMUrtr54ymm7ECQBtI3YS0W-RJXZbE 2022: Solstice - Light Up - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_m3OiVSsFNg3bsiF3oPo50OD7ZZuTTlDQM 2022: Solstice - Live in Veruno - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6dRplzGuGM Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 06 2023 at 23:59 |

SHADOWLAND The grand wizard of prog strikes again! The omnipresent Clive Nolan is a man of many bands, having been a regular presence in Pendragon, Arena, Strangers on a Train, Caamora and Casino. In the magical realm of Neo Prog, you just know without a shadow of a doubt that any band Clive Nolan is involved with will be a surefire winner. Shadowland are no exception, so set phasers to stun for some outstanding keyboard wizardry from Clive as he delivers another masterclass of technical ecstasy and perfection 1992: Shadowland - Ring of Roses - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsV4W_eKY2FyMLUHMRIWmHktMQbr8gUcH 1994: Shadowland - Through the Looking Glass 1996: Shadowland - Mad as a Hatter 2011: Shadowland - Edge of Night - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_l0hNhdARvQchQmw7kLf5bafMkk_4Ig9f4 |

KEN SENIOR I was working in the lab late one night, When my eyes beheld an eerie sight.... It was none other than Ken Senior, one of the last great English eccentrics. Ken's a little bit different to the rest of us mere mortals, as you'll see in the endearing video below, where he performs his own unique version of the Monster Mash for Halloween. It was a graveyard smash, originally recorded by Bobby 'Boris' Pickett & the Crypt Kickers way back in 1962. Sadly, Bobby 'Boris' Pickett is no longer with us, having passed away in 2007, but you can still listen to him from beyond the grave, so to speak. 1996: Ken Senior - Evolution: The First Signs of Life - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAcEKeVPM1Y 2019: Ken Senior - Elspeth Meadow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzxTLc803IA Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 03 2023 at 09:34 |

SANGUINE HUM And now for something completely different.... Sanguine Hum might be a strange name for band, but not nearly as strange as their previous incarnation as Antique Seeking Nuns. Their bizarre band name is merely a reflection of their offbeat music though, as Sanguine Hum are unlike any Neo Prog band you've heard before, or will ever hear again. Just in case you were wondering, Sanguine Hum is a cryptic reference to the four humours (or temperaments) of proto-psychological theory, first hypothesized by the ancient Greek physician, Hippocrates (the Greek scholar who gave us the Hippocratic Oath in medicine). He postulated that there are four fundamental personality types. Namely, sanguine (optimistic), choleric (grumpy), melancholic (sad), and phlegmatic (calm). But how does this apply to music, you may well ask? Well, if you're sanguine - as I am - then you may listen to an entire discography, hoping against hope that an artist's albums will get better as they go along, which they often do, especially in the case of Opeth and Therion. Alternatively, if you're choleric, then you're most likely a grumpy prog fan who's notoriously hard to please, but at the same time, someone who has endlessly diverse tastes in music, liking anything from Allan Holdsworth to Steely Dan to Dream Theater. Thirdly, if someone is melancholic in their musical tastes, then I'm guessing they'd be a fan of Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, maybe the Cocteau Twins, or even Current 93. Lastly, we come to a phlegmatic personality, where some calming and reflective Post Rock may be in order, or even better, the deep and meaningful music of Sanguine Hum! 2010: Sanguine Hum - Diving Bell - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kyN0U6iVAQTtbR3G8ZDjdjFtSYG8sQNyQ 2013: Sanguine Hum - The Weight of the World - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k3lgLYprubTJY8E0n25dcN6CPbkJUs024 2015: Sanguine Hum - Now We Have Light - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nEg_1Ol7oPsPKvUHObg8IfKfyDBR33ENU 2016: Sanguine Hum - What We Ask is Where We Begin - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mAGmAL5EaHRBBJY7uTayXJkpA0OWciUBE 2020: Sanguine Hum - A Trace of Memory - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kXk0b70-Hzu6hURpKJ4nxILy0HJrw8GI8 An ancient Greek scholar - or it could be Robert John Godfrey of The Enid. STEVE ROTHERY This town, is coming like a ghost town..... This is the long-awaited debut album from Marillion guitarist Steve Rothery. The Ghosts of Pripyat was inspired by the abandoned ghost town of Pripyat in the Ukraine, which is a stone's throw from the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster at Chernobyl in 1986. It's rumoured there's still enough deadly radiation around to make you glow in the dark like a Ready Brek kid if you spend any length of time there. You may not have heard of the long-abandoned Clune Park Estate though, which has been described as Scotland's Chernobyl, and where just eight residents remain. You can still buy a flat there for a paltry £7,000, but as Lloyd Grossman would say, who would want to live in a place like that!?? Let's take a look now as we go Through the Keyhole. 2014: Steve Rothery - The Ghosts of Pripyat - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lBvVb-swT3iku2OaUdcfQ0ysNaaD8bwJA Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 01 2023 at 02:28 |

ROADS TO DAMASCUS Have you ever had a Road to Damascus moment in the world of prog which leads to a dramatic change of attitude? That happened to me when I listened to all of Marillion's albums for the first time and realised they're a much better band than I'd ever given them credit for. Local radio personality Alan Partridge had his Road to Damascus moment too when he realised that having a number one fan isn't necessarily a good thing - especially if he turns out to be a "mentalist". 2009: Roads to Damascus - One - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_noULH6MaSoPvrjU6kGjyimZf_vyv3DvpU 2012: Roads to Damascus - R2D2 - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kgHWetS5aqpEx5D07kVDXCTDPq1zbmTaU 2015: Roads to Damascus - Precious Empires - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_m4M33GrdmKC5hS5TtT-Nks_lp6X--4r7E |

RIVERSEA A nautical Neo Prog duo for your delectation and delight. Local radio personality Alan Partridge seems to be in a spot of hot water again too when he's all at sea with a group of angry local farmers whilst filming a promotional video for Hamilton's Water Breaks, in the episode "Watership Alan". Alan Partridge now hosts Mid-Morning Matters on BBC Radio Norwich, because mid-morning matters! 2012: Riversea - Out of an Ancient World - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5_4m5T2AzoWUD8Cj2Kpju-PU-c5Jz1W- 2018: Riversea - The Tide - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5_4m5T2AzoWUD8Cj2Kpju-PU-c5Jz1W- Edited by Psychedelic Paul - June 30 2023 at 04:53 |
