No drum kit in this song. Keith Moon (RIP) wasn't able to play 6/8 timing, and just a bit of percussions was used from Pete Townshend's demo.

I don't think that this song could be better with the drums.

Great call on American Dreaming.  Also, isn't Brendan Perry's entire solo album "Eye of the Hunter" drummer-less?  Saturday's Child is a great one there...

Not really prog but it's so damn pretty...

Not prog but one of my favourite albums of 2012 was Bat For Lashes - The Haunted Man. I don't think there are drums on any tracks , mostly it's Natasha Khan beautifully singing with a delicate electronic backdrop. Its divine!

Peter Hammill's Modern seems like the best example of a real heavy prog rock song with no drumming.

Otherwise I mostly listen to acoustic blues these days, so I can't really suggest much.

The entirety of Roy Harper's Stormcock album
The many drum-less acoustic songs by Jethro Tull
And Peter Gabriel III (Melt) for having no cymbals whatsoever
...a vigorous circular motion hitherto unknown to the people of this area, but destined
to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...
