But it is sad they broke up. They were talented and some would say one of the few bright hopes for the future of prog. Prog needs more high profile bands like the TMV.

That was not the case for me though CoolCool

Or me Big smile

That was Dream Theater.

But maybe for others........

I actually didn't care much for TMV when I was new to prog in early 2005.

Kind of to be expected after their hiatus thing was announced. I don't mind since all it really means is that Omar will be without Cedric, and his solo output has pretty much proven he doesn't need him THAT much.

Sucks though, since they were the first prog band I really liked, and my first real musical obsession.

I was just getting in to them, so I'm sorry to see they're breaking up. But I'll bet they'll get back together at some pont, as has been mentioned before in this tread, as TMV or something else. In the meantime there's not much to do than to sit back and enjoy the great music they've already created. Oh, that reminds me, I have to get hold of there last two albums! Soon...

There's a good chance they'll be back.  So many bands hang it up or go on hiatus, then we see them again surprise surprise.....with the popular bands a "reunion" is good payday.

Octahedron may be my favorite because I was late to the Mars Volta party. Noctourniquet is great too.

To be honest, Deloused isn't as great when you start at the last album and go backward. It's good, don't get me wrong, but...oh well I said all that in my review anyway.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

It's right up there with Deloused for me. Thumbs Up

As for the band breaking up, I'm not too worried. They (Cedric & Omar) have been working together for a long time, I can see them going off and working on other projects for a couple of years and then putting something new out, either as TMV or some other project. It's probably good for them both to be doing different things and trying different styles of music. Hopefully it'll make for even better albums from them in the future, and until then, I can just keep listening to the TMV albums I have now.

Bad Bad news. I saw them twice in concert, two incredible shows: powerful and frenzy, with some mad impros. And the first time it lasted three hours!

Omar's banging Terri. They been working on stuff together a while now, right after he quit working with Ximena. He's obviously just trying to have a good time and get mad laid. They'll be back as TMV as soon as him and Teri break up.

I luckily got to see them play pieces from Noctoruniquet and Bedlam when they opened for Soundgarden a few years back. They will be missed definitely. Although, Bosnian Rainbows should be an excellent project, still nothing close to The Mars Volta. TMV for life.

Too bad for the fans. I'm not a fan, but I know the feeling. Unhappy

From what I understand, Omar R-L has his hands in a dozen other projects at any given time, so you can be sure he will still compose and put things out.   I don't know much about Cedric's extracurricular activity, but I'd say don't count him out either.

I love TMV, but i didnt expect more from them, they did the impossible on The Bedlam, the Perfect on De-Loused,
and also pretty damn good on Frances.  The other albums was good but nothing compared to those highlights.

Now they move on, we can just hope for something as great as the Best TMV or ATDI albums.

Ok. It's good if they call it off before making any bad albums. Noctourniquet was a bit of a let down, but still nice. Luckily I got to see them live once, they were mainly premiering the Noctourniquet stuff way before the album came out. Some of the studio versions were quite lame after hearing them extended live.

Here's my unpopular opinion: it was 10 years too late. (Should have happened directly after De-Loused to cut off the slew of inferior albums).
