Sapphire is probably over-hyped now but I first drank it about 25 years ago when it was far from popular. That's when I discovered that less tonic is better. Stouts & porters are fine in moderation and great in winter, but I find them too filling to drink during "a session". I will drink bottled ale (at a push), and those from this brewer are rather fine (Tripple fff) - (their ales have classic rock & prog rock names, which is nice) ![]() |

A proper Englishman's answer. I like British beers a lot, particularly ESBs and agree with you about lager. I'm glad to find such common ground, even though my preferred gin's are not the same as yours (I think Bombay Sapphire is only popular because of the blue bottle and media hype,) preferring Beefeater and Broker's myself. I also love stouts and porters (and find it odd they are not grouped together in this poll.) |

Dry red wine would be my favourite, but I also like some beers (preferrably stronger ones, 6.5% and up, or old Gueuze and some Kriek). Whisky (single malt or blended), Cognac, Gin and Vodka are fine as well.

I am a real ale drinker, (draft not keg or bottle) those that fall under the category of "bitter" are the ones I prefer - porters and stouts are not my thing - but thery're not as bad as the p-awful larger and other such fizzy pops.
But the drink I drink the most now is Gin - and that is generally Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray with a splash of tonic (unless I'm out then I'll take cheap Gordons with a whole bottle of tonic)

I think the categorisation for beers is fine, except I'd put IPA's in with ales. At least you did split beers into categories.
Personally, I'm a real ale drinker; current favorites: ![]() ![]() ![]()
You've been drinking the wrong vodka. |

Eh, probably under the vague"lighter" beers. I'm not too picky with categorizing beers.

Where does lager, the most common beer of all, fit in? |

I have certainly had some sweet red wines. Certainly not as sweet as Moscato or Reisling, but not overly dry. Perhaps they were blends.

I could make a dozen categories for beer (probably 30 more like) but in my mind I approximate it as stout, ales, and lighter beers. Of course, there's the bitterness factor, and that skews things a bit.

Really good vodka does have a distinct flavor, it's just that I have never cared for it. For me all vodka is just unfinished gin. |

I never did understand why people drink vodka. It has no flavor of its own.

I agree. I love wheat beers but I'm not crazy about IPAs. And I'm not sure what "etc." means. (Personally, I think "beer" should have just been a single choice, and that's what I would have voted). What category does Busch Light fall under? |
