Its because they're too famous Tony, I agree about The Joshua Tree. I also like Achtung Baby and Zooropa

well, i think you're a little harsh with your comparison. i think many people in the forums aren't sole prog listeners and often listen outside the genre. i do. that's why i have a u2 collection.

I don't dislike them either. They had some great songs. But I never heard an album that I liked enough to buy it.

Does everybody dislike U2? I didn't know that... well, they're not in my top 100, but I don't dislike them. I think they do pretty decent R & R.

U2 is one of those bands I dont' particularly care for, but respect.
And yes, War is a pretty good album.

I like some of their work. It's really hit or miss for me.

I think that most music collecters should own at least The Joshua Tree or War (War being better)

My interest in this was sparked by all of the reviews of Octavarium in which many people do not like the song "I Walk Beside You" because it sounds like U2.
I know that U2 is not prog. who wouldnt know that. And that therefore means that many people on this site can be predisposed to dislike them.
I can understand if you have their new stuff (every so often I review albums for my own leisure and i gave their newest, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, a *1/2 out of *****)
But their first albums (Boy, October, War, The Joshua Tree(highly over-rated BTW, but still good) are absolute masterpieces (The Joshua Tree to a lesser extent) I excluded The Unforgettable Fire, and rightly so.
And don't get me started on Achtung Baby (one of my top 10 of all time).
Tell me what you think.
