Although sad news re K2, I totally agree family must come first and they agreeing to come in 2012 is good news. I am however concerned that not enough time will be available for all the artiists on Friday evening! Why 3 acts? the other nights only have 2 which gives the acts concerned enough time to do full shows. I'm just concerned. I'm sorry to gripe about this as the festival is so good. I am looking forward to the festival enormously and wish both Huw and Lambsie all the best for what promises to be another excellent festival

A little flurry of news about the Summers End Festival , which takes place on 7th, 8th and 9th October at Lydney Town Hall, Gloucestershire Unfortunately, due to a serious illness to a member of bassist Ken Jaquess’ immediate family, K2 have had to withdraw from this year’s festival. We wish Ken and his family well and have agreed that they will play in 2012. Their replacements are the remarkable Day Six from Holland. Having stolen the show at the Fused Festival in Lydney in April this year, we knew that we would have to bring them back for Summers End at some point, and K2’s unfortunate withdrawal, for a year at least, has give us that opportunity. You will not be disappointed. http://www.myspace.com/daysixweb To complete or line up we are delighted to welcome Declan Burke and band to open the Friday night of the festival. Dec is no stranger to the festival having already played with Darwin’s Radio and Frost, so the opening slot is in safe hands! Coming very soon – confirmed news of the Sponsors ticket goodies, and the standard T-shirt pre-order. For those of you wondering where your tickets are, they will be sent out at the end of August. Confirmed Line up Friday 7th October Double headliner: Lazuli (France) Amplifier (UK) Declan Burke (UK) Saturday 8th October Evening: Arena (UK) – Saturday Headliner The Tangent (UK ) – Saturday Special guest Afternoon: Day Six (Holland) Casual Silence (Holland) Sunday 9th October Evening: Caravan (UK) – Sunday Headliner Magenta (UK) – Sunday Special Guest Sunchild (Ukraine) Sponsor’s tickets remain available at £85, which get the purchaser a special T-shirt and one other Summers End goodie to be confirmed, standard 3 day tickets are also available priced £65 from Don’t also forget the Festival Ferry at £14 for the weekend. Buy tickets at www.summersend.co.uk Day tickets and part-festival tickets will are now on sale with the following prices: Friday: £18 Saturday or Sunday Day tickets: £29 Saturday and Sunday tickets: £50 www.summersend.co.uk |

Caravan is a band that has passed me by completely. I will likely go in order to see Magenta so this could be my introduction to Caravan as well

Summers End Festival Announces Caravan
The Summers End Festival , which takes place on 7th, 8th and 9th October at is thrilled to announce that Canterbury legends Caravan will close the Festival on Sunday 9th October.
Caravan will need few introductions to Prog fans. Since their inception in the late 60s, the band, led by singer / guitarist Pye Hastings and multi-instrumentalist Geoffrey Richardson, has become synonymous with fabulous song-writing and jazz/prog instrumental excursions. Having been on hiatus for a few years, they will be making a return to live performance in 2011, and this will be a rare opportunity to see the band in such an intimate setting this year. This completes our Sunday evening line up. Caravan and Magenta should make for quite a closing evening, we hope you agree. Bands already announced: Arena (UK) – Saturday Headliner Magenta (UK) – Sunday Special Guest K2 (USA) Don’t forget that 3 day tickets are already on sale via www.summersend.co.uk . Sponsors Tickets, priced £85, get the purchaser a 3 day ticket to the festival, an exclusive “sponsors” T shirt, and at least one other exclusive Festival-related goodie to be confirmed, while Early Bird Tickets are available at the special price of £55 up until 1st May 2011. www.summersend.co.uk |
