^ Nice, lucky Americans. And I should suppose there is a direct connection between that American tour and Fripp's subsequent lack of interest in rock and KC? Angry LOL

I think it's a wise decision, and if he comes up with something new, musically, I'm sure he'll perform again (in the traditional sense of the word).

KC played a handful of shows in the US in 2008.

This sort of attitude is probably the reason they're keeping this a pseudo secret. I think most of DGM's customer base is people who feel like by supporting DGM and buying the bootlegs and solo albums and whathaveyou, they're also supporting the possibility of a future King Crimson album/tour. This is why the fate of KC has been in limbo for so many years.

This is probably why they haven't made a big official statement. Despite Fripp constantly telling people to have "no expectations" and seeming apathetic about KC in general, DGM continues to dangle the carrot in front of his fans as long as it remains profitable. So when he decides he's done with the whole thing he just offhandely mentions it in a diary entry.

I'm a big fan of Fripp's work. I've got no problem whatsoever with him wanting to scale back his workload in preparation for retirement.  He's provided us with so much great music over the last 40 years, he's certainly earned it. It's just strange and slightly dishonest that they'd be so quiet about it. And it's even stranger that more people haven't taken notice.

Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?
I will not forgive you if you will not take the chance.

I would sure hope not. I've never had the chance to see them.  It has to happen sometime I guess, but it is strange that there wasn't an announcement.

http://dgmlive.com/diaries.htm?entry=18705

I don't know if anyone else here follows Fripp;s diary. I still check it on a semi-anuual basis. Checked it the other day and noticed this somewhat upsetting bit. An email to Bill Bruford:

"… three performances done, final at 19.00. consensus seems to be increasing in power. this lunchtime was very powerful for me.

next performance is my final performance as a professional musician, as we would conventionally understand the term.

focus moves to writing & instruction, with most likely very very few performances. perhaps churches & even the WFC, which is now something of a sacred space."

Basically he says he's done with traditional recording and touring, to focus on teaching guitar craft and I guess the occasional church performance with the the Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists.

It's highly possible that this means the most recent North American tour will have been the last tour for King Crimson. Unless of course he allows Adrian Belew and co. to continue with his blessing.

It's a little strange that no official announcement has been made, only this random diary entry that most people won't see.

So what does everyone think of this? Is this the end for King Crimson?
