they are both ridiculously good, but Peart is better imo, more varied
Carl Palmer is my favorite, he seems like he doesn't have an ego nearly as big as anyone in prog, despite his enormous talent.

both of the are great musicians. personally i beliveve that both of
them have a great technique but i would choose peart because besides
his technique he was also great in writing lyrics.
we each pay a fabulous price for our visions of paradise, but a spirit with a vision is a dream with a mission..........

I chose "they're both great",even though Peart is the reason I started playing drums,Portnoy blows me away.My three favorite drummers are Peart,Portnoy and Danny Carey.Very hard to choose a favorite.
