^Or Liz Fraser, to remain in the same era. Speaking of the 80's, I would like to know more about A.C.Marias: I only have her 1989 album One Of Our Girls (released on Mute) which is another treasure forgotten under the dust of times. She started her career in 1980, singing on the song "Cruel When Complete" from Dome's first LP (Dome was a band created by two former members of Wire). Her music is rather atmospheric, each instrument resonating in a "full empty space"... Wonderful.
Also, Julie Crusee for her 1990 album Floating Into the Night (including the song you can hear in David Lynch's Blue Velvet).

Has no one mentioned Chrissie Hynde? Great singer AND songwriter. Kinda hot, too.
One of my favourites, together with the mighty Siouxsie. I'm much more into contraltos than sopranos (with some notable exceptions). Speaking of which, I'm surprised no one mentioned Lisa Gerrard - one of the best voices I've ever heard, period.

From the list, maybe PJ Harvey, but Barb Gaskin is still my ultimate favourite female vocalist. I'd like to mention another special lady with angelic vocals from a band really worth checking: Shanti Curran from Arborea.
Where is Clare Danes? I picked Beth Orton. She has a natural kind of beauty as well.
I'll tell you a beautiful woman dressed in a black before the storm is Meg Tilly. Well, that was quite some time ago seeing her in movies but, I'll always remember her eyes. A beautiful soul she seemed.

I can hardly relate to this list. My Top would be: Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy) Elizabeth Schall Eliott (Dreaming Dead) Sabrina Classen (Holy Moses) Sibylle Colin-Tocquaine (Witches) Runhild Gammelsæter (Thor's Hammer, Khlyst)

This girl (she´s not a girl anymore, she´s passed 45 i think) has everything.
She has the piano on her knees, she has the voice, she has sensuality, she has presence, her music has everything. I first heard of her with boys for pele (still my fav), but little earthquakes is mindchanging, specially silent all these years - how many cigars i´ve smoked while driving and listening to that song......
Agree, she's hella sexy the way she straddles the piano bench.
Actually, though I find that sexy, it's the fact that she's a kick ass keyboard player and has a really weird mind that I find more appealing.

And these words from Sparks seem pertinent here:
No one is restricted, no one is tied down But the Greece of old collapsed 'cause no one liked their girls We won't have that problem, I'm doing my part No one asked me but I'll still answer la-la-la-la-la-la
I like girls, I like girls I like girls, I like girls

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!' He chortled in his joy.
