^^ That would be Motorpsycho - Heavy Metal Fruit ... have a listen (not to the first track though - in the sample they managed to capture the silence in the beginningLOL):

http://www.emusic.com/album/Motorpsycho-Heavy-Metal-Fruit-MP3-Download/11766900.html

I would have listed more albums if I had listened to more albums of 2010 ... right now this is my recommendation. Smile

If you want a description: Space Rock, Vocal Harmonies, Avant-Garde, Epic, Hypnotic, Eclectic, Experimental.Big smile

Yes, this is unique phenomenon, most of these groups has pattern:

BEST 70's
getting worse (70/80)
WORST 80's
getting better 90's
BETTER 00's

But Rush are consistent in matter of quality. Well, some may dislike few 80's, but they're still better than many others groups in this.

In fact, progfreak helped me to acquire my beloved Univers Zero. However, do you personally know about one or two good albums that you've listened ? Your and PA's lists are useful, but I also want something from person point of view.

I tend to be objective regarding bands of my birth country (Poland)...In fact, I dislike bands like Abraxas, Collage's 'safe' and later satellite, Believe, and all generic neo-prog bands. Also not a fan of Ankh.

Anyway, for non-prog music I am looking forward to listening to the new Hank Williams III album : rebel within which is due in may 2010 : http://www.hank3.com/

In addition to the ones mentioned already, I see that the latest by Elephant9 has some stellar reviews here and there. And Fromuz has a new one out as well, so far they have yet to create something -not- worth listening to :-)

Heh, German, something like I being "objective" on Czech bands and Igor on Post Soviet ones.

Oops, I didn't say anything :-P

EDIT: Oh and Lucas, it seems like not so many people were listening 2010 releases. Still, majority of people listens (of prog people) their stash from 2009. Not that I do differently, but just though about it and maybe we should just wait for more people listening 2010 albums.

Here is a list of prog/prog-related albums issued in 2010 so far :

The rating is on 15.

In the top 5 you have :
Orphaned land, ange, motorpsycho, univers zero, relocator.

I didn't listen to any of these albums, but reviewers are rather objective on this website (except maybe regarding german bands).

Not bad João (I had to copy this character, as I'm not sure how to write it :-D )

Ange's release is something I didn't expect (I mean, their main work is from 70's, or isn't it ?),  but I anticipate it quite a lot now.

Let's try Pat.

Thanks for recommending me this guys. I'm going to find buy links right now.

Assaf, you're right. Too much metal isn't good for me, so thanks. I'll actually go also after Masal (before Jean), just to hear first what was first. And I like Fromuz previous releases, so this will be next target.

Igor, The Watch is the one I'll choose to listen properly. And Mindgames, this one seems to be fine. However, I'll not go after Silver, not yet. I still have to hear their effort before 2010.
Hope everything is OK in your country though :- /

Ihsahn, why not, I from time to time seek good metal albums (and only metal that can interest me is prog one, I don't know why)

He is. Actually this is a group he leads called Masal (after his 1982 album, means Luck in Hebrew) and it features his son on drums, and the album is called Glagal (means wheel in Hebrew). Quite different than that albums, fusion with emphasis on a rock approach, not as epic and grandiose as Masal.

I'm glad to find about this. The new tracks don't compare to Masal but they're still very enjoyable. Thanks for letting me know!

If you like metal, try After by Ihsahn.  It's got saxophone in it, but he pulls it off very well.

Univers Zero - I loved this one. Reminding me Karda Estra quite a lot. However, are there others ? I think about  "The Watch", even on some of their previous albums, these Genesis influences were too much.

I am also quite careful with Joanna, you know how her voice can be love/hate for various people. I heard her once, I liked songs, but I'm not sure about her voice. Will try in future again.

But something from prog realms ?
