Great idea! i desktopped the Yes one just now and its great - even cuts off the nude mans bottom so thats a relief
I could not load the image as my signature to terplace this Dream Theater one
but thats OK.
Keep em comin' darksideof!
Have you done Van der Graaf Generator? or netherlands prog including riverside and pain of salvation. have you done one on Kiss - not prog but ICONIC Mega band! What about Metallica? or .... I will stop there. |
n cuts off the nude mans bottom so thats a relief I could not load the image as my signature to terplace this Dream Theater one make it smaller. reduce the size. that should work. VDGG Is on the list for a collage this year. Before I did this Yes collage I did a very 2 very busy collages dedicated to prog metal. if you need to see them just go for the preview page I posted them. one was of pure progmetal bands and the other was of progmetal influences. the one of pure progmetal I did include Pain Of Salvation and Riverside in many part. I don't think I will a Riveside collage yet because they don't have enough albums and I don't have enough images of this great band that I love all ready. Pain Of Salvation is one the best band of the genre and I will do a collage hopefully this year. Kiss sounds great ( great albums covers) even though I am not a fan becuase they dislike prog and specially ELP. Metallica? I do like them, but only their early stuff . I am not a big fan, but they are good. but I prefer Iron Maiden. Maiden is an incredible metal band. I think I might do one day as well. On the progmetal influences collage I uncluided many of their albums images. if it is up to me I would do a collage of all the bands out there specially the bands I love and the fans of my work, but the only problem here is time brother! TIME! unless I get hire as collage Artist for a magazine until them I can't Can you help me on that? Or anybody?

Wow, those images are stunning! They stand alone as works of art. I think what really sets this collage up as one of your best is the use of color and the non use of too many images. Look at the way those fish just swim effortlessly across the horizon, into impending danger where the jagged trees wait to pounce. It feels psychedelic and mesmerizing when you look at the individual frames like this. I may have to swap my signature picture I think.
Thanks for the words too, i would have no problem reviewing your collages. i virtually have done so already. I am a College English teacher, and if my students came up with art work like this, they would get an A+ for Computer Graphics and Design.
Very nice work once again.
EDIT: Tried to load the Yes Collage and it wouldn't go in sig - too big or won't load blog for some reason. Ah well, good ol Dream Theater will suffice. |
thank you. yes I this the colors worked very well on this collage. Look at the way those fish just swim effortlessly across the horizon, into impending danger where the jagged trees wait to pounce. That is an excellent celebration of both the magnificent Yes and their glorious collaboration with Roger Dean - the two are synonymous really. I liked the version without the band members, although if you placed the one shot of them (the middle band sot in the wave) it may be sufficient to promote the band rather than the clutter of many varied shots - less is more you would agree in this case.
The Dean collage is superb, the colour palette using cool blue pastels and a light Close to the Edge green is atmospheric. I love those glacial formations and the floating Avatar Hallelujah Mountains are stunning!
The ominous Fragile planet looms over all as an eye in the sky and the Topographic landscape beckons the naked visitor who stands transfixed and spellbound by the majesty of creation.
It looks like Gates of Delirium in the centre and all the formations are as iconic as the Yes logo that is framed at the top of the collage, reminiscent of the album covers.
The juxtaposition of light and shade is subtle and effective. In fact the spatial sections are balanced perfectly to enhance the design. This should be on a compilation album. In fact on the cover of a magazine.
You are one talented individual.

As always thank you very much. I think that would a great idea to just add the meddle image to the first collage and it will complete. Yes, less is more but I just thought that I had to and I do think that some parts of the second version is great too. I posted some of the details of my fav part of the second one. look below:

Totally agree. Your work is amazing. All best! |
Thank you so much for your kind words and recommendation I really appreciated it. I reaaaaly reaaly would love that to happen, but sad enough I had tried and I had felt. I had send sample of the collages to magna carta progfest, nearfest, progrock magazine and many others I believe so,but haven't heard a word from any of them. I only got some praises from Hasse Fröberg of the Flower kings who he really enjoys the collages. I am just eagerly waiting patiently for the right moment, I guess. Right now, I am just doing them for the love of the muisic and waiting.

A collage is a collective of pictures and in this case because I do collage of bands I feel I have to use image so of the member of a band or bands. Maybe if i was creating a totally original artwork dedicated to the band of course I wouldn't use any images at all. got it? ...
