The Summers End Festival to be held at Lydney Town Hall, Gloucestershire on October 8,9,10 is delighted to announce that the superb Sylvan will take their place at the festival one year late. We are also thrilled to announce our Saturday and Sunday openers – Dead Heroes Club from Ireland and Multifuse – who are best described as European! Our next announcement, in about 7 days, will feature: The launch of our 2010 website, the draft schedule for Saturday and Sunday, plus first news of ticket sales and prices. Sylvan, from Germany, have released a succession of superb and hugely popular albums over the past 11 years, mixing strong playing with intense emotional melodies and lyrics. Having had to postpone their appearance last year, we welcome them to the Festival at last! Dead Heroes Club, from Ireland’s, are winning huge praise for their classic prog style which also draws inspiration from the great Irish song writing tradition. Having already headlined at the Peel in London, we are thrilled to have a band of such stature kicking off the main part of the festival. www.myspace.com/thedeadheroesclub Multifuse thrilled us the first time we heard them, and we immediately knew we had to invite them to play the festival. The band are the brainchild of Provence based English multi-instrumentalist Peter Fallowell and feature singer Cherie Emmitt alongside musicians from the UK, France and Italy! Think Renaissance combined with Magma and you might get some idea of what this amazing band sound like. www.myspace.com/multifuse www.crookedcatmusic.com

You are huge teases! I couldn't make Summer's End last year but with this line-up, there is no way I am missing it this time around.
Can't wait for the rest of the announcements |

In the first of two announcements over the next few days, the Summers End Festival to be held at Lydney Town Hall, Gloucestershire on October 8,9,10 is delighted to announce its entire Friday line up! Headliners will be the enigmatically titled “The Defence of the Realm with 3 Js and a P” – a one off musical extravaganza featuring Jem Godfrey (Frost) and John Mitchell (Frost, It Bites, Kino) and two very well known musicians to be named later. What teases we are! This promises to be one of those “you had to be there” nights, so should not be missed under any circumstances!
We are also delighted to welcome back the marvellous Tinyfish to the festival after their show stopping opening slot in 2007. The band will release the long-awaited 2nd album “Big Red Spark” in August 2010.
The third band of the evening will be Unto Us, the new project from singer Huw Lloyd Jones (ex Also Eden). More news about this band will be revealed very soon. In a few days we will be announcing our two opening acts for the main festival. One is an established band with a growing reputation, the other may be unknown to you, yet is one of the most exciting - and unusual – new projects we’ve heard in many years. Stay tuned! Holy smokes, this is turning into the best line up the festival has ever had!
Funny how we have half the bands announced and only one is a UK act, may the trend continue. Edited by sleeper - April 07 2010 at 15:47 |

Summers End Festival Announces Agents of Mercy and Karmakanic
The Summers End Festival to be held at Lydney Town Hall, Gloucestershire on October 8,9,10 is delighted to announce its Saturday Evening line up – the superb Swedish “Power of Two” double bill of Agents of Mercy and Karmakanic.
With the Flower Kings on hiatus Roine Stolt and Jonas Reingold are currently concentrating on the Agents of Mercy, which also features the vocal talents of Nad Sylvan. The band are currently recording the follow up to their superb first album “The fading Ghosts of Twilight” prior to Roine’s Spring tour with Transtlantic. Meanwhile, Jonas’ band Karmakanic won huge praise for their third album “Who’s the Boss in the factory”, in 2008. Expect 3 hours plus of inspirational music, with sets from both bands, neither of whom have played in the UK before. Phideaux (USA) www.bloodfish.com Edited by Lambsie - April 06 2010 at 16:22 |

The Summers End Festival to be held at Lydney Town Hall, Gloucestershire on October 8,9, 10 is delighted to announce it’s latest two international bands – The Watch from Italy and Phideaux from the USA. The Watch are very much on the rise, known both for their excellent original material and their uncanny reproductions of Genesis music from the Peter Gabriel era. Having already headlined Rosfest, and playing to growing audiences throughout Europe, this popular band will play a mixed set of original and Genesis material at this year’s Festival. Phideaux from the USA join Unitopia as the first two bands from outside Europe to ever play the festival. Led by LA-based multi-instrumentalist Phideaux Xavier, the band have won a cult following with seven albums of remarkable art rock influenced both by classic prog and psychedelic music. We are thrilled that this remarkable 10 piece band will make their first UK appearance at Summers End 2010. Bands already announced: Unitopia (Australia) www.unitopiamusic.com Ark (UK) http://ark.grango.org/ www.summersend.co.uk (new website coming soon) |

The Summers End Festival will once again be held at Lydney Town Hall, Gloucestershire on October 8,9, 10. Here’s news of our first two bands! We are delighted to announce that this year’s festival will feature our first ever band from outside Europe, Australia’s wonderful Unitopia. Having made waves with their debut More than a Dream in 2006, the band truly established themselves by signing to Inside Out and releasing double album The Garden in 2008. With third album Artificial on the way and an appearance at Rosfest this spring to look forward to, expect a superbly melodic and powerful set from this hugely talented band. www.facebook.com/pages/Unitopia/22985966625 Ark , from the West Midlands, will be familiar to many as one of the leading lights of the late 80s / early 90s British prog scene, before calling it a day in 1995. This reformed line up includes the legendary John Jowitt (IQ) on bass, alongside Ant Short, Pete Wheatley, Steve Harris and drummer Tim Churchman (Darwins Radio). www.facebook.com/pages/Ark/61636548008 www.summersend.co.uk (updating soon) |

dates for Summers End booked - 2009 was excellent.
Winters End looks a good prospect - having fallen for Touchstone (my son, Mini Vac very much fallen for their petite singer Kim), any bill with them on it is looking good...
