Been Down So Long was probably their bluesy best.

I voted for The Spy and think the Doors a decent blues band (when Jimbo was up enough to be down)
However, it's the more acid rock/psychedlia/oriental hued tracks that make their contribution to music unique IMO

Well, today marks the blessed birth of Jimbo Morrison...or rather, yesterday did. Oh well. Bit of a national holiday for the city of Los Angeles really (or, rather, me. And one guy I saw on the big blue bus who had a Doors shirt on today as well).

So, since it's always something I wanted to do, I propose a contest of Doors Blues. Which is the best? Which can you choose? Something straightforward, like "Back Door Man," "Crawling King Snake" or "Been Down So Long?" Something apocalyptic, like "Roadhouse Blues," "Maggie M'gill" or "Cars Hiss By My Window?" Something Gothic like "Love Me Two Times," "The Spy" or "Who Do You Love?" Or...well, I guess that's it then.

Of course it's not though; I mean, they practically WERE a blues band live, and there's probably some b-sides and non-Morrison numbers I'm forgetting/purposefully avoiding. Oh, and, "Shaman's Blues." Except it wasn't really blues.

And myself? Hmm...dunno exactly. I suppose the wilder the better, but honestly, every one of those tracks has enough atmosphere to make it special in some way. "Who Do You Love?"

(Oh, and, I'm aware that this should be in proto...so that's cool.)
