I hope to get it soon. But I was there and liked the concert pretty much, and have the Recorded in the Moment CD and really enjoy listening to the music. Excellent sound quality, specially considering that they recorded the music and burned the CD's and were ready 10 min after the concert, with no tampering at all.

^I watched the Rick Wakeman DVD last night! Absolutely brilliant.
Not enough camera angles of Rick's hands, but still, phenomenal DVD. Probably a 5 star for me! |

Just found out that the DVD and CD of Wakeman's concerts at Hampton Court Palace are already available (The 6 wives of Henry the VIII, played with rock band, orchestra, and choir, extended versions and 3 new songs). The concerts were rather cool and I guess many Yes fans would be interested in this. Wakeman said that if this DVD did well enough he might get support for doing Journey to the Center of the Earth and Myths and Legends of King Arthur with orchestra and new music and releasing them on DVD. I would really love to see this come true.

The only member that's been on all of Yes's lineups is Squire, and he's on this lineup, so it must be Yes. As a matter of fact, this version of Yes has got just the same members of the classic lineup as the Drama version (plus, one of the members is the son of the other classic lineup member). So I guess it is still quiet acceptable to call it Yes.

I wonder just how far one can stretch the concept "band"? I don't say this facetiously, I really wonder. That distance really been tested yet; now is historically the point where it could happen. I guess you could say there are the vocal groups - a different thing, of course - like The Four Seasons and The Four Tops and the like (into symphonic prog and love Yes?, of course you do!, you really ought to pick up the Four Seasons' Genuine Imitation Life Gazette, a great proto-prog record!!), and of course there have been The Who, Genesis (the first 'offender'), The Beach Boys. God knows what's going on with a group like Aerosmith membership-wise; groups like that, for years, have struck me more like an office.
Yes are an interesting case. There have been points where these "Yeses" have asserted themselves, sometimes unfortunately, as breaking this/or/that way from the past and/or establishing this/or/that new tendency. At what point would you begin to wonder how a Yes-instance could still call itself Yes? Is it a membership requirement ultimately? Is it a certain aesthetic? What aesthetic? Was there an older one that took it too far, and the next Yes took it back a bit, 'kept it real'? |

Why must my spell-checker continually underline the word "prog"? |

What do you people think about this?
I guess it might be interesting to see if the new guys give new ideas to the band and the music, but I guess Rick and Jon are still better at what they do than their replacements. And it's sad to think of them out of the band, they may not be able to tour anymore, but they can certanly work in the studio still. |

Anyone knows if the lineup for the new album is already decided? It seemed there was a good chance that the album lineup would be the current live linup.

Nektar has been releasing entire concerts of the 70's under his own label check them at:
Hope than Yes can do something similar

I don't really know what you're talking about: I don't know who or what Nektar are, nor what their Archives Live Releases is (though the name is somewhat self-explanatory), nor what the White album by Yes might be. But it still sounds interesting.

What do you think that Yes also Start out an Archives Live Releases, like Nektar and others are doing
They can start with the famous White album:

1. Official live release featuring Moraz on Gates and Ritual.
2. Extended improv on Ritual.
3. Better version of GFTO than the studio release.
4. Rehabilitation of Time and a Word.
Those four pop to mind instantly.

I'm sure many of us noticed the Yessongs>Yesshows thing, didn't feel the need to be that guy...
Yesshows is purty important, a must have for many reasons. |

I've been intending to get it for some time, but I just never seem to want to plop down $25 for another Yes live album when I already have so many and there's so much other music I'm interested in hearing ...
so I'm keeping my eyes open for a cheap copy. :) |

By the way, I'm sorry, but I made a mistake and I meant to say the version of Time and a Word on YESSHOWS (as I was already corrected by another poster on this thread). As a matter of fact (many should already know this) there is no Time and a Word on Yessongs. And I guess you should really try to get Yessongs, for it is one of the classic album from Yes (though as a matter of fact, I do like better Keys to Ascenssion and Symphonic Live). |

No mystery on "Open Your Eyes". Wakeman had quit (again). Who's going to play all the keyboard parts on the tour (whetted by the KTA three shows)? No keyboardist, new or returning, had ever debuted without new material. So these pop tunes that Sherwood and Squire had laid down could be learned relatively easily, a replacement recruited, and the band could hit the road while the brand was "hot", perhaps with a new single for radio.

I must agree. I find that Keys to Ascension is my favorite Yes live recording (although admittedly, I haven't yet heard Yessongs ... which is odd, considering I have Yesshows, Lilve at Montreux, Beyond and Before, both KTA, and Symphonic Live). The updated versions of their old songs were great. And the band had such an energy ... like they were playing the music that they really loved. Like they were glad to return home. Which confuses me about how "Open Your Eyes" could have been their next record. |
