My name is Gianluca Missero (Hox), I live in Venice, Italy.
The band I recommend is my solo project called Hox Vox. I compose and play every part on bass guitar and keyboard, and produce graphics and animations for videoclips and a theater-with-music performance based on a next record I'm working on.

SHORT STORY

I started playing bass and keyboards in a couple of italian bands during first 80s, ranging from new wave to avantgarde, but at the end of that decade I ceased to play.

Last year I restarted to play and compose alone, and I re-released under CC 3.0 license an old record I composed in '89 (Eight-Bit Deboned), a Residents-like short record all made with an amiga 500 and released in amiga mod format: kind of 8-bit progressive rock. My first little attempt to rejuvenate the genre.
Then from october 2008 to july 2009 I released always under Creative Commons 3.0 license another 3 records: Outskirt, Das Chamaleon and Etoile. I don't search to do CDs because (like Sébastien Gramond or Brad Sucks) I want to play exactly what I want without compromises with labels.

CLASSIFICATION

It's difficult find a genre because usually I change it continuously, even into same track. Better, my genre is based on using the greatest number of different genres and melt them in what I think is a RIO way. For instance, in Outskirt first song is between space prog rock and philip glass minimalism. The second is prog metal, then post-rock, then an electronic anthem, and a jazz rock number, and then a classical prog piano piece, a 5/4 prog funky 'til a suite in 7 parts where there are moments reminding residents or renaldo and the loaf, but also carl stalling, bruce haack or fred frith. Closing in classical prog rock à la Banco del Mutuo Socccorso (I'm Italian, after all).

In my opinion I act with same freedom in using different musical materials (even waltzes, gamelan, world music, IDM electronics, ska) by musician as Zappa or Mike Patton (with the right far  distance between me and two monsters of course). So probably I'd better fit in RIO/AvantProg, or Experimental.
