Okay, sorry, Micky for taking it so literally.  Methinks that one of the effects of having stopped smoking recently is that as the nicotine levels go down, the pedanticism goes up. LOL

my earlier post was.. I thought was obvious with the Elvis quip... tongue in cheek.   Of course he has some relation to prog.. what is prog.... if you cut TO THE BONE.  It is the merging of rock music with the artistic aesthetic.   DId he do that... in his own funny way. He did.   Enough to be included here?...  god knows..I don't think so.. but what do I know.   As I said.. if you added every artist in the 70's who dabbled with arts in music.  This would be allmusic.com.  It comes down in the end to the music... and in that...  I think most would agree he just didn't measure up to that.

But you were saying that he didn't have "any association with 'Progressive Rock'" as I understood it, which surprised me coming from you.  My general opinion is much the same as yours -- it's really a matter of Prog/ Prog-Relatedness by degree.  Alice Cooper is not closely enough related for me to support his inclusion in PR, but that doesn't mean that he has no association, of course.

I think that is the whole point of matters... like we've said before.. Find me us an  artist in the 70's that wasn't related to prog in some small manner at least...  even beyond mere association...musically a great many of them took something from prog.  My whole problem with PR.. but that is another subject.. beat to death long ago.

I believe that Alice Cooper had association with progressive rock.  For starters, do you know Pretties for You?  The Alice Cooper band debut from 1969 which was released on Frank Zappa's label?

I think he/ and the band has a musical, as well as personal, relation to Prog, but not enough for me to suggest him for Related.

Is this a joke? C'mon LOL

Oh, for heaven's sake, next time I'll think one hundred times before posting... I thought this poll's title and its placement were clear enough. Do you want to think Alice Cooper is prog? Be my guest - just don't jump all over me for mentioning his name, or slap Uriah Heep in my face when I never ever dreamed of mentioning them.

No but it is a prog factor.  However, I can't say anything at all regarding the music since I haven't heard it, but there were those in that thread that said there was something proggy in the works going on there.

again.. take me up on my offer from the SC zone Scott... wanna take a listen to some things that people call.... prog. LOL  Even the supremely open-minded, someone like me who believe in a inclusive database here, nearly died in laughter.

Yes, but you forget that I judge prog by whether or not it is in my collection, and there is quite of bit of Alice Cooper in my collection.  WinkLOL     And with some of the suggestions that I have made, I suspect that I have probably made you nearly die in laughter more than once.

what did I tell you before...  stop that sh*t Scott AngryLOL....  you are talking to the guy the ONLY person on this site who has ever suggested Beck... yeah.. Beck for inclusion here.   I actually made Ivan laugh so hard he forgot to answer my suggestion in blue font hahha

oh sure he is.. .and that stage show...  it works for prog.  Until we create a sub-genre for shock rock/theatric prog.  We just have to judge on the music.

School's Out... or 18.. or Under My Wheels just sort of miss the mark a little bit as to what most people think of when it comes to Progressive Rock hahha.
