Appears I've been too hasty with my 15 minutes. I left out some significant bands with my 50. To prevent doing it all over again I will name the forgotten bands with the appr. range

The Tangent: no. 14

Glass Hammer: no. 21

Nexus: no.17

Ice Age: no.19

Vandenplas no.24

Royal Hunt no.32

And also honorable mentions for Guns & Roses, Explorers Club, Mangrove, Masterplan and Grand Stand who just fell out of the first 50. By the way I left out a few bands that had made only one album so far like Skeem, Frost, Apple Pie and Amaran's Plight. So you see, mentioning 50 great bands isn't really that hard (mentioning them all and putting them in the right order is, though Pinch

I already participated in the challenge of naming the 50 best songs as well as the 50 best albums according to personal taste. I thought it was time for the ultimate challenge: name your 50 most favourite bands in right order.

It seems (too) hard but I had it done within 15 minutes and to make it a little easier: you're allowed to name non-prog bands. So take up the glove I'd say. Good luck.
