To clear up a few things: this sequence of reissues features REMIXES of the albums, not simply remasters. The members of Genesis and engineer Nick Davis went back to the original master tapes and remixed the tracks to take advantage of modern technologies. Once these are released the old '90s so-called Definitive Remasters will cease to exist as these new mixes will supercede them. Thus these are effectively 'different' albums. How much different the first bunch of albums will be remains to be seen. With the later albums, all recorded on 16 track or more, it was a relatively simple task to revisit the tracks. Not so with the 1970-75 set as these were recorded on sometimes 8-track recorders with the tracks 'bounced down' to create more space on the multi-track to give more tracks. Therefore you might get a guitar and a synth line recorded on two seprarate track and then re-recorded onto a third, freeing up the first two to be wiped and used for new tracks. In this way you cannot revisit individual tracks and clean them up or reEQ them because you get what you get. Apparently it was a tricky process with the 70-75 set. Also someone else was enquiring why the DVD discs timing are the same as the CD. This is because the new sets come (wonderfully) in a variety of formats. The CD also carried an SACD layer and the DVD is a DVD Audio disc that also carries the bonus DVD Video material. Nice to see Genesis supporting audiophile formats (even if they are now largely obsolete). If you do have a home DVD player, some allow you play DVD-A or SACD discs. Give it a whjirl through your amp, the res is higher and should provide more detail, air and space than standard rubbish Red Book CD. Me, I can't wait for these discs. The 76-82 set sounds awesome.

I would think the live material would make a perfect 4th box. "Genesis Live" (with the other Rainbow tracks included on the 1st Archive Box, maybe resequenced; Seconds Out (with any extra material), 3 Sides Live (with any extra material!), Live tracks from the Mama and Invisible Touch tours, and then I imagine they'd include "The Long and The Shorts" from the We Can't Dance era (although I think I could handle it if some of that wasn't included).
Damn, that box would be a TON of material. But it would be great to have an expanded "Seconds Out"!
Come to think of it, they could probably release 2 "LIVE" Box sets; 1st one with everything including Hackett, 2nd one post-Hackett. That would work for me.

Yesterday evening I had a talk with some Genesis freaks (on the Dutch Symforce II festival)
and I was told that the The Lamb live footage is from Bern (Switzerland), running time at
about 30 minutes with a good quality, something to look forward to !

^ that has been rumored...but I believe the whispering died down when it got out that there were no plans to re-release the live material in the near future. But, after the hype following the next box dies down...if there is still considerable demand, I wouldn't be surprised to see that live box released, with hopefully plenty of bonus material.

I agree that Seconds Out should also be included in one of these box sets... but not this one. Seconds Out is a release from 1977 (recorded on the Wind & Wuthering Tour without Gabriel), so if it had been included in a box, it would have been 1976-1982 (the first one released, I believe). This box set could have benefited from a remixed Genesis Live (from 1973). Maybe they could have even added in some "lost" recordings from the same show, especially "Supper's Ready"! Who knows though, maybe the live albums will get the box set treatments as separate/independent releases.... maybe even a (mini) box of just live stuff?!

In my memory there is no complete The Lamb video footage, perhaps Genesis uses the material of the Epping Forest DVD Group, they released a DVD featuring lots of rare 8 and 16 mm footage (from good to poor quality), all is perfectly blended with the music, incredible work

nope, these are the same audio tracks but in a different form, the first disk is always a SACD & the second a DVD so I suppose the mastering is different & the visual material is an extra on the DVD, normally a band interview with comments about the record, plus when existing concerts or/and Video clips. My favourite ones so far are the Trick Of The tail concert and the Tour documentary on ATTWT. I am quite curious to see the new bonus material.
PS I just looked through the Wikipedia thread, there is indeed more footage then Eric posted, unfortunately the 1974 visuals are't from the lamb but Supper's Ready & I know....

Excuse my ignorance. Are you saying their DVD( visual) footage for every remastered album from live shows? Just curious as to why the times per song are identical?
Cheers

Is the info on the Genesis box sets correct? The info on wikippedia is different. It states that the box set is due in October. Also, their website does not have this info. Why will the CDs be released by themselves @ a later date? That did not happen with the other box sets.

It'll be interesting to hear what the earlier albums sound like. I have heard a new remaster of Cinema Show and it sounds pretty good. I already have a remaster of TLLDOB though, this would be my third copy.
