Apparently I am ISTJ. Though the results page said I only answered two questions even though I answered the whole lot. Stoopid program! And shouldn't the strength determine the order of the letters? I'm actually an ITJS. Or maybe even IJTS (I Judge This program to be Stoopid). "
I'm feeling extrovert.
I should be shaking the stars instead of hugging the dirt.
I swear!
I'm really burning, fit to boil up the sea,
Human volcano at a zillion degrees.
I'm feeling extrovert.
Instead of quiet and shy I'm really dying to fly.
I feel like someone else,
Yes I do, yes I do, yes I do.
I feel like someone else,
I feel new, not so blue.
I feel,
Extrovert." XTC

I'm an INFJ, with a 'distinctively expressed feeling personality' (the others are all moderately expressed). Although I wouldn't call myself introverted, I do have some traits of that kind of personality, and I am very definitely a 'feeling' person. Now I have to get Micky to take the test too, and then we can take the Jung Marriage Test, to see how compatible we are .

Of course these tests are only a bit of fun ... I'd say that the "e vs. i" is usually quite accurate, but it only confirms what people already knew suspected about themselves. I really think that they're either one or the other ... if you're both then you could be suffering from depression/bi-polar, which is not the point of a personality test. The other thing which this test shows is whether you're quick to judge (j) or tend to keep an open mind (p), but I'd say that the latter in this case could also be a case of avoidance (simply being unable to make up your mind).

Whether or not one is quick to judge is not always a matter that they can analyze themselves, especially not with a close-ended question. People can show consistency and a bewildering amount of deviation in the way they make decsions and solve problems...I'm really harping on the personal expectation demand characteristic because it applies most strongly here (and the results speak for themselves in that this test can be quite accurate but even more often inaccurate, and thus reliability & validity will fluctuate depending on who you ask). We know that in dealing with deep characterstics of themselves, subjects are going to become considerably emotional, thus decisions...results will depend strongly on feelings - feelings of the moment.
Here is an example of how someone could feel unsatisfied with their results:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The Meyer's Briggs is very inaccurate for me. I remember when I was taking it, most of the answers honestly depended on how I felt. On the day when our scores were revealed to us, the instructor chose me as an example because I scored to one extreme (I forget what my exact score was, but it was very feeley, very emotional). He asked me to read a description of a coffee mug I had written, and it surprised him because it was very quantitative and analytical.
I don't take personality tests well because I tend to pick up on what the question is trying to find and answer in one way or another.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And getting more specific wrt this thread, being that this is a progressive rock site, folks may feel a social pressure to be open minded, or to see themselves as open minded because that is a valued trait here. Whether we like to admit it or not, most people have a self ideal somewhere in the mix that interacts with norms that will almost always affect the way they make assessments, especially concerning themselves. So if I WANT to be that open minded person, I'm going to devise ways to rationalize my choices on the questionaire, and then I'll be super-happy when the results come in.
