I voted for Musical Box, although I also really like 'In The Cage', especially the live version on 'Three Sides Live'.  It just shows a band in transition, when they shove 'Misunderstanding' on the same album!!
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Firth of fifth is definitely the best thing Genesis have done.

And maybe the best prog song ever!

That is difficult... From the list I picked The Musical Box, but I think my actual favourite of all time might be The Lamia. (Really it's the whole of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, but I guess that doesn't count, at least not outside of brackets...)

Firth of Fifth, the only song I drool both when listening to it and when trying to pronounce its title

Supper's ready, and especially the live version on Second's out! Simply amazing, one of the few good things Collins ever did in his life!

To Tell You the Truth when I first got into Genesis I only knew the Phil Collins era albums then I discovered the Peter Gabriel era albums and I had a Shock how much better the "P.G." era ones sounded. I've Got all the Pter Gabriel era albums incl. From Genesis to Revelation.

Yea I definitely wondered, why does Eleventh Earl of Mar have 161 votes and I thought Supper's ready was the best Genesis song during the Hackett/Gabriel period.

161 votes for eleventh earl of mar ?  Something definitively goes wrong on this poll.

By the way, my votes goes for Supper's ready, the best epic track ever.

Here's my other choices

  • The musical box
  • In the cage
  • Cinema show
  • Dancing with the moonlit knight
  • Firth of fifth
  • Can-utility and the coastliners
  • The lamia
