Well it will be the only group with those kind of vocals I'll try and accept...hehe.  I trashed them pretty quickly but did like what the band was doing.  I'll trick a punk friend into buying it and get a copy. LOL

It took me a while to appreciate the vocals. Give it some time. They are truly a fantastic group.

It's so nice to see how much my(and the PMT's) hard work is appreciated. Some people must like them,Fortress' rating is PERFECT.

To the people questioning their progginess.....do you feel Between the Buried and Me deserved inclusion here?Because both bands are pretty similar stylistically.

I just listened to the album and enjoyed it very much. The vocals don't bother me at all ... I guess it's entirely a matter of taste. Also, I don't find it derivative at all, and Between the Buried and Me didn't invent the genre either.Smile

The music is okay albeit very derivative (especially from Between the Buried and Me), but the vocals slay any chance I have of enjoying it.

There's been quite a fuzz about PTH since they've been added. I liked them at first. Now I just don't have words for them. They annoy my ears incredibly fast.

The problem is not that people think prog = good, it's that people think good = prog, and are suggesting completely non-prog bands for PA, on the basis that they're intelligent or good bands. It's rediculous.

They've been added already and indeed the vocalist is kind of annoying. He should relax or take a break or something.

Protest the Hero has awesome guitar work, but Christ, the vocalist is unbearable, and the drums sound like blast beats half the time! Still, after listening to both albums twice, I can see why someone would recommend them for being on here. They have many prog qualities, but then again, there are as many arguments you can make to say that they aren't prog...

Would you like some Bailey's?

Well it seems that I annoyed a few people. I still stand by my original statements.
Scale runs don't make songs. The singer is a whiny, annoying pop-rock vocalist. Their lyrics aren't inspired, it's pseudo-intellectual rubbish, and when they've done interviews I've read, they've name dropped poets and philosophers with no clear understanding of what they really did.

As for the guy who commented on Opeth. Do me a favour.

Oh you are joking.
PTH aren't prog.
If they can be included, then add Job for a Cowboy, Bring me the Horizon, All Shall Perish etc.
It seems as long as anything is slightly technical, it can now be included in the archives.
Shallow band, mediocre, generic guitar work, pretty much the same drumming in every song, lyrically uninspired.
Awful.Dead

Just because you don't like it that dosen't mean it isn't prog. Besides their are many bands here in PA that have all of these things you've mentioned and that dosen't mean they aren't prog.

Just because some people DO like them doesn't make them prog. Stern%20Smile
