Mahavishnu first 2 albums are totally heavy and mad!!!!....Crimson's Red??

Atomic Rooster!!! My fave heavy prog band, although a pitty I only love 2 albums of them their first 2 the rest I really don't care...

FUSION ORCHESTRA was kinda hit and miss.  I don't remember it being particularly heavy.

Frumpy definitely deserve some more attention. they were a great band. Inga Rumpf is one of the most powerful female vocalists there are. I especially recommend their live album

Frumpy from Germany had some pretty heavy s#*%.Check out Frumpy 2 from `71. If Take Care Of Illusion ain`t a heavy track then I don`t know what is. Check out the video here on PA in their section.

I think Van der Graaf Generator could be pretty heavy, even without guitars. I think the music was so dark and Hammill's voice so intense that they really outdid most metal bands in terms of heavy. King Crimson as well, along similar lines as my reasoning for VdGG.
and Just because they're here, albeit in prog related, Black Sabbath.

Clear Blue Sky. British trio who made one of the earliest albums on Vertigo (1970).They reformed in the 90s but I haven't heard that material,

Great choices, I haven't hear II BALLETTO DE BRONZO - Ys in a longtime.  I can't remember how heavy that is.
 
HIGH TIDE is super heavy for the late 60's probably the heaviest.

The bass tone on Fallen Angel fits my definition of heavy. but perhaps not the extreme metal definition of heavy, which means either "extremely slow" or "the studio engineer cut away everything that makes the guitar sound like a definitive instrument"...

I was thinking that Jannick Top's version of De Futura was unnecessary heavy for something recorded during the seventies. there's no blues anywhere near the song, though, and somehow that tends to score people hevypointz

well we have red by King Crimson, though i never really found it that heavy. It was rated in the top 100 of heaviest albums ever by some random magazine so I guess that counts for something.
