Slipknot are the Superdrug of music

Bubblegum metal - for 12-year old kids to chew up and spit out quickly as soon as they realise it loses what little flavour it has in seconds.

At least IKEA make reasonable quality stuff compared to MFI and the really sh*te chains

Some more or less "voluptuous" singers from the beginning of the 80's.

Bjorn and Benny were fellow travellors of prog. A fact obscured by the domination of their songs by the incessant disco beats in the later 70s. Listen to that keyboard sound once again.

If you doubt this, I refer you to Genesis' Duke album recorded at ABBA's Polar Studio.

Also the sometime Gods of Rock, Led Zeppelin, recorded their final LP In Through the Out Door there as well. And being Gods of Rock, they would have had to be prepared for flak over using the studio of a mere pop group.

Well said.

ABBA are massively underrated these days by "serious" musicians - it's a huge pity that the "cheese" crowd seem to own them.

They're substantially more than cheese - I would suggest that "ABBA The Album" is pretty close to prog rock.

I agree with your suggestion that ABBA the Album is pretty close to prog rock - it is the only ABBA album I admit to owning - and I think it's their best

ABBA were great musicians. 99% of their output is utter cheese, but there were moments of musical genius, and tremendous melody

SOS was always the song I liked the most, Dancing Queen and Mama Mia weren't bad either, from a musical perspective.

Slipknot? Well, I'm sure they're quite good musicians too, but they also happen to make a god awful racket that I am simply too old to appreciate or give a sh!t about. Sorry.

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!
