Hi guys Just like to squeeze in > as I do like PT a lot discovered them just recently like the old stuff as well like “On the Sunday of Life ”mine favorite album would be In Absentia and Deadwing Also I do like the production (sound quality very good) and have to mention that LP records available as well (limited of course but available) which make me very happy fellow Cheers Jiri |

iTunes probably don't take into account the differences in style *within* a band's discography. If this compilation is your first foray into PT, you will be surprised when listening to some of their latest albums! An open mind is kinda required But fear not, it's ALL good stuff, just different! Great to see more and more people discover the brilliance that is Porcupine Tree, despite the nay sayers around here. |

i just heard the band last Tuesday on myspace when i went out and bought Fear of a Blank Planet the next day. So i guess the lack of fan theory is kinda wearing more thin.

They sound nothing like The Strokes, but I think Stupid Dream is comparable to Radiohead. Then again, we are talking about my #1 and #2 band here. |

Well, PT just gained another fan. Bought what could be considered a best of album (Stars Die/The Delerium Years 1991-1997) but am bewildered as to why the album is classified by iTunes as alternatve/punk.

He registered in August 2006. swilson is his username and he has posted more or less 25 times. A fan, moi? Incidentally, it was on this forum he first spilled out the beans about Anesthetize. He never told the name of it but wrote that there would be a 17 minute long beast of a song on the next record. Anesthetize was unofficially called "The Beast" for the next four or five months over at the PT Forum Edited by Fritha - January 23 2008 at 16:30 |

Incidentally there's a short interview with Wilson on the front page of www.metalireland.com for those interested. It deals only with his recollections of recording Opeth's Blackwater Park.
It is short like I said, but a good read...he comes across well.

Oh yeah? ... Well... let's wait for the announcement of prog-album of the year by PA collaborators and let's see how un-popular they are....Or is it that we say one thing (PT are average) and think another? (PT rule!)

actually .. he didn't when he was a visiting member here... Was hoping he would.. not every day you get into a flame war with a renouned 'prog' artist. So much for livening up the forum. |

Wilson has often played down their Prog credentials so I don't think he'd argue with you there.
So maybe that's why Abigail's Ghost have never made it for inclusion here when they are Porcupine Tree in all but name.

hahahha... the praise doesn't match the goods IMO.... they are a good group without a doubt... but I think you started with the wrong album...give them another chance. That album is not what it is cracked up to be. try In Absentia for the modern version or any of the early ones .. like The Sky Moves Sideways or my favorite Signify |
