I'd consider Brann Dailor of Mastodon to be a little "ridiculous" and "over the top", but I like it. He's one of my favorite drummers.

For pretentiousness, gotta go with Narada Michael Walden, followed by his predecessor with Mahavishnu, Billy Cobham. For over-the-topitude, I nominate Mothers-era Terry Bozzio -- the sum'bitch just never lets up!
