Don't trust magazines or sites, you'll be disapointed.
If you're just looking for a nice looking system, i can't help you (except that tube amps look terrific). Edited by oliverstoned - June 04 2007 at 14:53 |

Yes the speakers are pretty new I think, I had a demonstration in a B&O outlet and they were part of a surround system. The whole thing cost £10,000, which sadly is several years worth of pay for me.
In that case I must be an "arty-farty" type, as I absolutely love their designs. Are there any websites that any of you are aware of that have comparison sections?

until i heard a B&O system in the 70's i was using an extremely low-fi 12 wpc music centre, to hear something that decent was a revelation and from then on i became determined to follow the path to better sound, though i have never owned B&O they are still high in the public conciousness.

Indeed, if B&O is high-end Hifi spectrum equipment, it is mostly in terms of design and price rather than quality. Real audiophiles don't even look at B&O, without a snicker of sarcasm.
B&O is strictly for nouveau riche or artsy fartsy interior design decorators and stuff.
BTW, another brand name getting frequently dissed is Bose by audiophiles. Expensive speakers and not able to suffer comparison from competition in pure sound comparison, and the price/performance ratio is almost laughably low.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

I don't know well this brand although i've already listened
to some of their 70's setups and was not impressed at all. This brand has a bad reputation among audiophile circles. Are these speaker's recent? But for sure, the electronics are bad. This is a brand which focus on the look, the cosmetic aspect, instead of the sound quality. |

Oliver, what is you opinion on the systems produced by Bang & Olufsen? I have my heart set on the BeoLab 5 speakers, but as yet am completely undecided on the other peripherals.
BeoLab 5 speaker - Amazing!
Are you familiar with their products, and how do you feel they compare to the other "high-end" systems currently on the market?

Please be aware however that I will only be able to finance such extravagant whims if I win the National Lottery or EuroMillions
14,000,000 to 1...I can live with those odds.
