Honestly I'm just surprised that Certif1ed showed some appreciation of Opeth. In a recent thread about when Opeth became prog, he seemed to argue that they have never been prog.
So, this is a step in the right direction I suppose. But yeah, I don't understand the vocal correction reference. Is he even accusing them of using the software? Or is he suggesting they use it? I can't tell. If he's accusing them of using it, I am curious as to how he "knows" that they do. What I find ... interesting ... about the guy is that he seems to hold every band to the standards of Gentle Giant. Now, I love GG as much as most other people around here, but comparing their composition style to Opeth seems beyond absurd to me. |

We sort of twisted Mike's thread to review the review instead of discussing whether or not vocal correction software was used. |

Doesn't this belong in reviews discussion?

I remember when I first read Opeth's biography on this website, I had a hearty laugh. "ATTENTION AKERFELDT DOESN'T USE A COMPUTER TO RECORD HIS VOCALS"

Which is why most prog metal fans loath Certif1ed's prog metal reviews. I don't mind the opinion but the way he words stuff is just horrendously biased and bashes prog metal to the extreme. Edited by progismylife - March 30 2007 at 11:18 |

As a massive and long time fan of Opeth, I found the review quite amusing.
The constant critque of his voice as 'comic book'.... The suggestion that they need better lyrics Did the reviewer listen to the album? If you're going to get someone to review Opeth, get someone who knows what progressive metal is. |
