   I have been using the Prog archives for some time now, but never noticed the forum until someone on another message board (Relapse) pointed it out.
I enjoy progressive thrash, some prog metal (even though most of it is formulaic and boring to me)....Lots of RIO (goddamn I LOVE this sub genre) and as much Avant Garde as I can get my hands on.  I also love experimental jazz, Technical Death metal and technical metal period.  I also enjoy some classical.  Most of my collection (now bordering on 900 cds and 350 cdrs) is mostly metal, but almost all of it is obscure.  I am obsessed with music.  I play a 6string John Myung Bass Guitar and an Ibanez guitar and have recently started playing piano again.  I have ideas to incorporate the wild playing of Orthrelm/Mick Barr with the beats of Aphex Twin at his most crazy....with insane samples and a little bit of The Residents thrown in for good measure.......but alas, I do not have all of the necessary equipment.  Speaking of Mick Barr, he just released a cd on Tzadik with him playing accompanied by a drum machine.  Lately I have been listening to Rope (from Chicago- Avant Jazz), Ephel Duath, The Residents, Thinking Plague, This Heat, and many more.................
