One of the greatest posts ever...no question....
Now, on another note, I don't lile Wild Orchids that much... It's a good album, but I think "To Watch the Storms" is much better... So I disagree with number two, too. To. Tuo, Tu.

"Dowsing" is not number one for 2006. Well, it is according to the collabs, but not REALLY number 1.
In fact, it's only ranked as the TWENTIETH (20th) best prog metal album of 2006 on the top 100 of this site.
Kayo Dot is very unstructured and conforms to no genre.
But, whatever. More power to Kayo Dot. Edited by dalt99 - March 30 2007 at 23:27 |

Same problem. When I saw that Kayo Dot is number one, I fell from the chair... I don't like Kayo Dot AT ALL. Listened to "Dowsing" many times...and just couldn't understand their music... For me number one is Tangent, number two - Sylvan, number three - Tool, number four is Nemo, number five is Mars Volta and number six is Flower Kings... DT's Score is number 2 DVD ever after PF Pulse... |

Me too!! I find Blood Mountain a LOT better than 10,000 days(which is a great album! don't get me wrong!), which IMO was not as good as Ænima or Lateralus. |

I actually had a nightmare related to Kayo Dot tonight.
I was reading a newspaper one day and found a tiny article with a picture of Toby, that said they would be coming to my city for a short concert. I immediately got myself a ticket, which cost a fortune, and in a few days went to the "concert hall", which was a small cramped room. Then Toby's band came in (he played the guitar and besides him there was only one other player in the band who played the drums). He first surprised me by playing They Aren't All Beautiful, which is a motW track, and then spent the next 20 minutes reproducing some horrible reggae tunes with poppy choruses and rapping. I found it unbearable and didn't watch the whole show until the end.
Funny, seeing as how this isn't my first dream related to music in one way or another.

Actually, I really don't know why Kayo Dot is number one, I mean, it just doesn't seem very....good. Haha. A little bluntly put, but quite serious. They call themselves "experimental progressive metal..." folks, that is no metal.
Good to see Tool and The Mars Volta make it....a tad disappointed not to see Mastodon though... Can't wait for next years! There'll be a new Dream Theater, Symphony X, Deadsoul Tribe, and yet another TMV release....looking forward to 2007! |

^^I love that album too. I saw them in concert together with Porcupine Tree. Sound was not optimal but still a great experience.

Just wanted to pop my unpopular head in and say that I'm glad to see
PRR up there. By rights it should be number one...but still. ;)

Well, I must say that I protest having the Tangent's foray for 2006 put almost in the dumpster. However, life goes on and 2007 arrives for all of us to witness... let's stand on the hill and observe the silence of the valley.
The valley will be filled with sounds by December, I hope. |
