Exactly. I think I watched some of the Real World when I was 14 or 15, but I've never bothered with this stuff. It's a recipe for disaster. And now we have cultures pitted against each other all for the sake of money and ratings... it's sad, and it's regressive.

I think the original idea of reality TV was interesting. such as "The Real World" 7 people live together for 6 months and its videotaped in a documentary fashion, a simple social experiment, no prizes just people and their reactions. As that grew popular other networks wanted to buy into the popularity and lowered the values and increased the shock to raise the profits. Now its evolved and lowered standards enough to do what CBS is now doing.

reality TV has gone downhill in the past few years as its become more popular. I remember when "America's Top Model" aired: I thought now they are just making it obvious that only beautiful people can be on TV. The Show "Beauty and the Geek" was seriously based on stereotype. As reality TV 'progresses' (or in this cas digresses) it needs to become more and more shocking and controversial. I believe this stunt of their's will work because even bad publicity will work, this shock factor will get more and more people interested. The network is maybe taking a gamble but I believe it will work and if I am right then its pretty sad what mainstream america is becoming. |

Survivor is going to pit 4 different races against eachother- there is a team of blacks, whites, latinos, and Asians (I believe) Is this going too far? Are you going to watch it? Companies such as Chevrolet are alreay pulling their adds from the show- what do you guys feel about this?
