Despite not becoming a Mason or aligning himself with any other school of religion, Danny has maintained his heritages interest in occult studies. If you use a mani-tom (an invention of Mani Neumeier of Guru Guru), you
don't need all these toms anyway, no matter what you play.

Of course you're aboslutely right - a good drummer doesn't need a huge kit but....despite it being a bit pointless there is something exciting about looking at such a kit...boys with toys....

There's only one word I have for these super-big kits: "Protzig", a
German word that is somewhere between "pretentious" and "showy", but
somehow much more fitting for these kind of kits. What on earth's sake
does one need such a big kit for, except for playing flashy solos?
The man in my signature pic is my favourite drummer by far, and look at
his kit! It is, by the way, the kit he used when playing with Brand X,
and formerly belonged to Ginger Baker.

As a drummer I used to adore the big sets.
Now I hate them.
Zack Hill is a perfect example of an excellent drummer with a small set. He is IMO better than any drummers listed for the poll.

LOOOVVVEEE the picture of Peart and his monster of a drum set...wow! Oh, and I voted for hims as well.
My drum kit preferences can change pretty rapidly...if i'm playing jazz or whatnot, I like a smaller kit, but for rock and metal you need a beast with a hundred cymbals and twice as many toms, bass drums, elcetric marimbas, and gongs. It's just so glorious.
