A lot of Yes style going on in Paradox Hotel. And, IMO, it is very tastefully used ideas and sounds that they 'lifted'.
I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

I agree with all who say Starcastle. They are the only band to me who really sound Yesish.

I Don't think Flash emulated Yes as much as it was just in parrallel with Yes. Flash Is after all half of Yes. at least for its first outing. Its what Yes was heading for with Peter and  Tony.

Same here, it's  cute little album and has its qualities.

But I don't hear it in Ad Infinitum, unless I have the wrong album by them, or something.

I dislike YES...stop ignoring me,let me conclude!!! OK,they're my "least favorite band",but I appreciate their masterity and attitude. I even REALLY like some tracks from "Magnification".I've no prejudition against clone bands, even love some of them(GENESIS/MARILLION-related ) .I'd recommend you MAGENTA,which I love many more than YES (unquestionably!!!) and one-shot band AD INFINITUM - another YES-clone which I can listen to with pleasure

The bad example is BLUE SHIFT.Very bad ,really

Starcastle is basically a Yes tribute band that writes it's own songs.

that was my impression of Starcastle... an attempt to emulate that really showed just how unique and unemulatable Yes was....

for what it's worth... I liked the attempt.  I enjoy pulling out Fountains of Light once in awhile.

Cherry Five.  It's an early incarnation of Goblin.  Sounds a helluva lot like Yes.  Really good band, though.  They only released one self-titled album before disbanding and reforming as Goblin, the Italian Symphonic Prog band that did soundtracks for movies like Suspiria and Dawn of the Dead.

World Trade and Conspiracy sound nothing like Main Sequence era Yes, so they don't count.

Many bands have emulated the style of Yes.  Who do you think had the most success emulating their style?

Which of these bands were/ are just very good in their own right?

Yes, I would even include bands with former (or current) Yes members.

Starcastle, World Trade, Flash, and Conspiracy all come immediately to mind.

IMO, no one has come very close from a technical aspect.

Are there other bands that I have not mentioned?  (so I can check them out for myself).
