No one moves me as much as Keith Emerson, then Tony Banks, then about 12 people tied for third.

An interesting slant, "which one moves you".

I said Clive Nolan. He's not the most gifted keyboard player (although he is very good), but his work with Arena, Pendragon, Oliver Wakeman, Strangers on a train etc. is superb. He paint wonderful soundscapes with his keyboards, which provide a superb foundation for his colleagues to exploit.

Actually Jan Hammer and then Jens Johansson (but outside Stratovarious), Mike Ratledge, (fourth Eddie Jobson). So I hope the future part 2 (this is part 1) will include these names, plus Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, Dave Greenslade, Tony Kaye (no, forget I mentioned him), Eno, Francis Monkman, Don Gallucci, Mark Gleed (aka mark Laurent),  Dave Stewart, Dave Sinclair,and then a very large number of European prog keyboardist, e.g. Marian Varga  etc.

 

And finally I thought Mike Oldfield was better known for his guitarwork?

Ooo erm , Wakeman/Emerson/Vangelis. i just simply love Vangelis - El Greco album. Wakeman and Emerson are geniuses.

Wakeman as a solo musician rules, his huge ego (he's entitled to it) and incredible skills allow him to improvise and recreat whenever he wants to.

Tony Banks as a band keyboardist maybe shy, hides behind his keyboards and is a terrible frontman, but he leaves everything when he plays for a band, sadly his musical taste became cheesier each day. The  less classical of the three I mention, but I believe by large the most progressive, has a legion of followers and Neo Prog was born around him.

Patrick Moraz is probably the most talented of all, his style is perfect and cleaner on stage, than all the others together, could easily have been a classic concertist, but his lack of charisma and low profile as a composer don't help him.
