Cert & Easy
I can strongly recommend Ultima Thule in Leicester (Conduit Street, next door to the railway station - but watch out for their strange opening hours), and check out their website via Audion Ultima Thule. Perhaps the best Krautrock specialist in the UK, and also heavily into European prog.

Don't do it!
When it comes to electronics, unless you're a wiz with a soldering iron, remember and chant the following mantra:
"There is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap, there is no cheap"

Usually, when there's something specific want, I eBay it. I'm very
comfortable with eBay and use it quite often, and for finding rare
out-of-print vinyl of my favorite prog bands, eBay is the place to find
it. I've only had one bad experience, when I received a wrecked lp of
Moving Pictures... but besides that one unfortunate incident, I love
eBay and I use it all the time.

Play.com is pretty good for the UK with free delivery. I also use Key mail order who have a good selection of prog.
I do prefer to buy from shops though. In Glasgow, we have several good ones.
"Lost in Music" off Byres Road in the West End has a specific prog section, mainly neo prog, plus good new and used sections.
Avalanche in Dundas Street beside Queen Street station is pretty good for prog metal, with a good second hand selection.
Fopp in Union Street and Byres Road does many of the more popular prog remasters for £5 a time.
Missing Records in Oswald Street, near Central Station is all second hand, with some good prog at good prices from time to time.
I used to find Plastic Factory in Birmingham had a great selection. Anyone know if they moved or just closed down completely?
In London, there are several good new and used shops in Berwick Street, off Oxford Street.

Amazon - there's not much it doesn't sell or can't get if you really want it, and it's usually cheap. The other good place is eBay...
Of course, I usually go to as many vinyl shops as possible - much better than high street retailers like Virgin (who don't go all the way...), HMV (Have Morethan Virgin) or Whiffys (WH Smith, who stink). 2nd-hand vinyl shops are better 'coz you never know what's going to be on the shelves from one week to another.
My heroes named (vinyl shops in Reading);
1) The Sound Machine (Harris Arcade)
2) Oxfam Music Shop (London Street)
3) Rusty's Records (Oxford Road - just over the bridge)
4) Replay Records (Harris Arcade)
5) (If I'm desparate): Sirrell's (Oxford Road, corner of Argyll Street).

So Petey, where exactly is this wonderful store of yours? Surely it deserves some free publicity.

I do the same. I order through Borders bookstore and pick it up at the local store without paying shipping costs.

I was disappointed big time with online buying. At least from here in Canada, it seems to be no cheaper (more expensive, in fact) & requires me to drive up my Visa bill. (Too easy to spend too much, as well, with just a few mouse-clicks! I'm sure some of you can relate....)

That's by far the best option for me. Online shopping is out, pour moi.
