Check your calendar, James: 'Tis a little-known yearly phenomenon that meteorologists call "winter."
BTW, there are lots of pesky blackflies and mosquitoes (some with West Nile virus, just to keep it interesting!) here in the Great White North, but I have discovered a sure-fire, never-fail repellent for the plaguey little varmints:
It's called.... (drum roll, please)....
FEBRUARY!

I used to think it was cold in the UK (and it is) but that was nothing compared to the xmas' I've spent in NYC. BBbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Wait just one minute, Quacky. I'd be remiss if I didn't make a didactic observation (given your forum contact, I'm sure you're well prepared ).
If it's so cold up there, how can any sort of reptile survive? From the little I know about zoology, there's precious few reptiles that can thrive in even a normal Canadian winter, let alone the tundra you must inhabit.
I think you may have to consider changing your species...might I suggest 'Party Walrus' ?

Hey Danbo. It is always a treat indeed to meet new people. As for location, if you know where Vancouver, BC is, well I am about a 10 hour drive north of there (brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!) in Prince George. But be warned, i don't just hoist a few, as Peter can attest. You see, I have taken the party animal to a new higher level. To party hearty you have to be cold blooded. Hence the morph into party reptile. Holy, and I though Peter was verbose. Later fellows. |
Ha. 10 hours north of Vancouver? You must have great sunsets, every six months. Obviously beer is not your drink of choice, it'd be frozen solid. You must like the heartier brew. Something from the Sixteen Men of Tain, I'd guess.
I'm happy to have met you.
Now tell me, does Peter wear argyle socks and sweaters with elbow patches? hehehehe

Good to see you here Quacky, and welcome!
Fellow progholes, I'd like to introduce you all to a dear old friend of mine. Quacky is my pal from way back to the 70s, and the "old country" from whence we both come. In 78-79 we were sharing an apartment in Calgary, and listening to the likes of 801, Bowie's LODGER, Eno, Gentle Giant, and loads of other great stuff.
He's now on Canada's western edge (British Columbia), and I am land-bound in Ontario, but we remain friends. He recently got back in touch via phone, I told him about this site, and the rest is history (or will be....)
BTW: His name REALLY IS "QUACKY." He is the unnatural spawn of as fowl a family of feathered fiends as you are ever likely to encounter!
Welcome, Sir Q. of Quack! Good to have a "real-life" friend here!
|
Welcome aboard Quack-meister. I'll have to PM you for some ammo.
My Bro is up in the north Washington area. I'm hoping to visit this spring. How far to the enchanted duck pond? I'd be pleased to hoist a brew and listen to me bro's band jam a bit.

Hey Reed:
There is nothing mutual about my inspiration, . Don't worry I am no Peteophile, just friends. As for the juicy gossip, well I'm not sure I feel safe divulging any pertinent info from the past. You see, Peter has as much "dirt" on me as I have on him. But, mahaps, as time goes by and I get more comfy here, there may be something forthcoming. Till then, stay on the edge of that seat.

Thanks, Peter, for that wonderfully verbose introduction. It is good to see that you still retain the sardonic whit you were so notorious for. I am hopeful to gain insight here. I have been reading various threads, and in doing so have come to the realization that the quality of members is of the highest regard. cheers and thanks loads
