Yeah basically most people who are actually into Floyd think that...  but DSOTM is no where near as overrated as The Wall.

On progarchives Animals, WYWH, Meddle, etc. generally get the recognition they deserve... its only the mainstream that really knows them for DSOTM and The Wall.

My opinion on DT doing an entire album of Pink Floyd covers is that they like money... Its amazing how much crap some of these bands will put on cd.

It's not about trying to be as good as the orignal, it's about playing  your influences and inspirations with fans considered as honoring a great band. It's not like they are trying to say "look, we played DSOTM, we are better than pink floyd"

I belive it can be interesting to hear what DT makes out of the Floyd covers. They'we been doing a few good one's in the past. But only a few.

I kinda like their covers.

Esp. The Number of The Beast-- James' voice is awesome!

I've heard a (very crapy) bootleg of the Lndon performance and though the sound qualaty was rubbish it was well done by DT.

Hmmmmm..... Like? Yes; influenced by? Not sure...

I'd certainly be interested in hearing this; their occasional nods toward Floyd have in the past been well done, so I'm intrigued as to whether they can pull off the entire DSOTM; I think a great deal of restraint would be required on the part of John Petrucci & (especially) Mike Portnoy.

mm I don't want to get my expectations too high.. lately DT has disappointed way too many. I'll make sure to check it out, though

hear a band like Dream Theater that sounds (pretty much) NOTHING like
Pink Floyd plays some of their songs. I also thought it was cool that they
added extras (echoes and sheep being the ones that caught my eye the
most.)
