I'd put them on the list if I could ever heard any of their  music other than the streaming samples!!!

Well, it's obviously very subjective, as I feel many of the bands listed in this thread get plenty of attention, at least among Prog fans.

For myself, I'd say:
  • Conrad Schnitzler
  • Manuel Gottsching
  • All Moebius and Roedelius related projects
  • Elton Dean's solo material and with group
  • Kevin Ayers
  • Ian Carr and Nucleus
  • Snakefinger
  • Fred Frith
  • Renaldo and the Loaf
  • Tuxedomoon
  • Embryo
  • Michael Rother solo
  • La Dusseldorf
  • All Hopper related projects
  • All Keith Tippett related projects (minus his work with KC of course)
  • This Heat
  • Soft Heap
  • Slapp Happy
  • Adelbert von Deyen
  • Neil Ardley
  • Third Ear Band
Do you need anymore?

I started the same thread half a year ago. The 2 that I suggested were not mentioned in this thread even once so :

Robert Wyatt - A unique voice, does music sounds like no one else does. Rock bottom is a masterpiece that should be in the top 10 of any prog list IMO.

Talk talk - their 2 last albums "Spirit of eden" & "Laughing stock" are great orchestral albums and rarely ever mentioned here. Again they have a very unique sound.

I guess there are many others mainly in the non english bands but those are english and still get no respect here for some odd reason.

Sad but true.

Among prog. fans the subgenres postrock, krautrock, RIO, Zeuhl, prog folk seem to be quite underrated.

Symphonic:I think Gentle Giant and Focus are underrated.

Prog. Metal: Fates Warning and Psychhotic Waltz are underrated .

Among others.

I just went to see Tower of Power at BB Kings in NY and came back with tickets to see Spock's Bread in May.  I am going just on the recommendations of people here as I know nothing about them.  I don't even have an album yet, I would like them to get more attention so I can learn more about them.  Is that too self-serving?

John Scofield in the Jazz/Fusion genre and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones in
the fusion genre.
