Exactly...

Scab Dates is my first and last TMV album

And a very bad introduction to the band at that.

I would like it if they cut down the noise, but I would like it even more if the lyrics weren't such rubbish and actually made sense. "17 wives in the lake tonight, raw bark in the water of the marble shrine" WTF? I would vastly prefer no lyrics to ones that don't make any sense. Unless it's a Syd Barrett song, then it's ok, because I like his lyrics more, and it's obvious that they aren't supposed to be take seriously. With FTM (and Close to the Edge, but we're not talking about that), it feels like the lyricist is trying to communicate something, but he can't quite do it.

Oh yeah, it would also be great if they didn't repeat so much (see La'Via Via'quez), and had less extended freeform crap (see the end of Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore).

i think the "noise" level is fine. it sets the moods of the album very well, and the albums would feel a little shallow without them.
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case

I'm tired of that

Noise? What Noise?
The Mars Volta don't use noises

This is noise:

some sounds 'lower' the overall level of the album's quality

still good but they need to cut down some useless, IMO, effects

I think that its not my Favourite aspect about The Volta but I DEFINITELY would not ask them to get rid of, change, or cut down on it....or anything for that matter.

I wouldn't change a single thing about FTM. I think it's absolutely brilliant.

I'm really hoping for something drenched in salsa. They could make it work well.

I agree. generally I do not like noises, but in both albums they are just in the right places, and, moreover, these noises seem to be essential to put the listener in the right mood - they are adding to the general atmosphere of the album, IMO.

I agree with that, though some of the time on Frances I think the noise segments went on too long without much of a change.

exactly

I didn't mind much the noise in Frances The Mute but I would like it if in the next album they cut on some of the noise.
