I've heard of pressing flowers but pressing benches is a new one on me.
|
When people get lost in thought it's often because it's unfamiliar territory.

I swam pretty far yesterday -- stopping only occasionally to rest via my big pink floating "noodle."

I don't even remember. I haven't weight-lifted in well over a decade. However, at the time I was muscular enough and wanted definition over muscle mass. So, instead of trying to max out, I did relatively light weights (my guess is somewhere in the 125-175 lb. regime) for many reps. At the time I could perhaps max out in the low 200s, but my memory for this is utter rubbish. Now hoisting pint glasses is the closest I'll get to "lifting"...

I bench about once a week.
I do 185 (each side has a 45 & a 25, and I think the bar weighs 45).
I've been doing 185, exactly, since around the year 2000. I know I probably should try to increase it gradually, but I'm happy with the results, and I don't want to look like some steroided-up pro wrestler or something.

My max (when I used to work out) was about 135 pounds which was about 10-15 pounds more than I weighed at the time. Nowadays I don't use weights to exercise I swim, hike, bike, skateboard etc.

Uh...bench it.
I don't have a rack to hold the bar, so I'm really afraid to try anything more in case I drop it.

^ I always thought it was unhealthy to do it every day anyway, maybe I'm wrong.
I've never tried as much as I can, I lift 16kg 40 times, then 30 times again after a few different exercises.

Im January started to do many bench press until I managed to do 4 series of 25 repetitions with 90 Kgms every day.
One morning while doing it I heard like a belt snapping and my arm grew twice it's wide, the sinew that connects the central muscle of my right triceps to the shoulder had broken and the muscle fell to the elbow, the strange thing is I felt no pain ar all..
Surgery is not recommended because the other two muscles of the triceps will replace the tension of the damaged muscle and the scar would be from the elbow to the shoulder plus something may go wrong and loose movility of the fingers, but I can't lift more than 5 KGMS for a year with that arm and no more bench press with more than 2 seriies of 20 Kgms after the year.
The doctor said I went too fast, so it's not important how much weight you can lift, but how prepared are you for the effort, it's better go step by step.

Tested a while back. 220lbs! Not bad for a 16 year old who have never really trained with weights before
